I should not have worried about the few BAD reviews about The La Collina!! We had A great stay, Room 16 was lovely, large ,comfy ,balcony with great view and a lovely bathroom with lashings of hot water.O.K it was a little dated, but clean and serviced daily (thanks George)
A Crystal chalet, staffed by young ,friendly and helpful staff, who in fact made the holiday much more fun for all who stayed.Food plentiful and perfectly good for the budget.
A long walk (10-15 mins from the slopes) , hire and store at FELIX right by the lifts realy friendly and very helpful (hi Felix) . The walk back through the lovely village was a great way to keep the muscles moving and more importantly to sample the realy excellent apre-ski. I can reccomend the apple strudel and hot chocolate at THE TEA SHOP. Hot wines at any of the bars along the way, realy hit the spot.

“Disappointment”

We requested adjacent rooms when booking 11 months in advance as we were travelling with 4 children. We checked 2 weeks before departure and were told there would be no problem. On arrival we were put almost as far apart as possible. After much distress and negotiation we were moved to the same floor but had booked balconies and got basement cave like room with small window . The hotel rooms were not cleaned during our stay and the public areas were not cleaned adequately. We had a totally different experience than our previous stay at the same hotel. What a disappointment.

Some people are just too fussy. I recently stayed at La Collina and thouroughly enjoyed my stay. Great staff, nice views, and I can't say that that the quality of the food had any affect on my stay in Saas Fee. Keep up the good work.

We have just returned from a weeks skiing in Saas Fee which is an excellent resort with fantastic pistes, great restaurants and bars and friendly locals. The only downside to the holiday was the hotel!! One of our party had stayed at La Collina on two previous occasions and was absolutely appalled by how badly standards had slipped since last summer. Both rooms were dirty on arrival and barely touched by staff all week, the only concession to making the beds was roughly pulling the duvet up over rumpled sheets. Every guest that we spoke to was dissatisfied with the cleanliness of their room. The staff in general were unhelpful, unfriendly and often impolite with the exception of one of the waitresses who did ask how our day had been etc. The hotel manageress was most notable by her absence which resulted in her young and inexperienced staff being left unsupervised most of the time doing as little as they possibly could! On the occasions that we did see her she appeared to have just got out of bed having slept in the clothes that she was wearing and certainly did not seem to be predisposed to a job in the service industry. If I had been under the illusion that the hotel had a cleaner I would have thought it to be her.
The meals at this hotel are absolutely disgraceful, the main topic of conversation between guests throughout the week was not the skiing or places of interest but how awful the meals were. Plates were regularly being sent back untouched and by midweek many guests were eating out despite having paid for half board (an excellent restaurant nearby is Alp Hitta). Some of the waitresses were so anxious to clear tables and reset them for breakfast that they whisked plates and cutlery away while other guests at the table were still eating!
I have never felt the need to criticise a hotel or establishment in this way before but I must warn potential guests of the horrendously incompetent way this hotel is currently being run. Please research this hotel very carefully before booking or better still don't stay here.

Stayed at La Collina December 2004. Lovely hotel rooms, great view, good bathroom and balcony, would have been great if the food had been 4 star as well. Crystal staff ran out of breakfast ingredients mid week e.g. last day cooked breakfast was a spoon full of tinned tomatos and 3 potato croquettes on a saucer. No fresh bread - only packs of square 'hotel toast' bread - yes thats its real name. Desserts and starters nice, but there were only 2 good evening meals, the rest were sparse e.g a piece of hard cauliflower, a spoonful of gnocci with cheese sauce and a few roast potatoes.
