“Wonderful welcome and family friendly”

Sea Shore Farm

Apr 16, 2008

Seashore Farm is a gem of a bed and breakfast, quietly tucked away but within walking distance of Kenmare. The owners are very welcoming and having lived in the area all their lives have much information to share and great recommendations for things to do. We visited with our children aged 7 and 4 and we found the large bedroom with ajoining room for the children perfect for a family. The views from Seashore Farm over the river are beautiful and the breakfasts are delicious. Very relaxing and easy stay.

We wondered what we were getting into when we found the road to Sea Shore Farm from Kenmare. Even by Irish standards, the road was impossibly narrow. We crossed our fingers that we wouldn't meet any other traffic (we didn't) and headed down the lane. The driveway into the property was even narrower, but once we got to the farm, there was ample parking, complete with friendly cats to greet us.

Owen and Pat were wonderful hosts, walking us to our room to assure we didn't have any questions or concerns. We had a wonderfully comfortable bed, the most luxurious bathroom of our Irish trip (complete with skylight), and an amazing view of the water through our sliding glass doors. The town of Kenmare was our favorite of all we visited and after checking out the Druid Circle, we returned at dusk to the Farm.

We wanted to walk down to the water but weren't sure that all of the cows in the pasture were friendly. After Owen assured us, we walked carefully (cowpie alert) to the bay and sat on the rocks of the shore until it was too dark to see anything. It was so wonderful and peaceful; definitely one of the highlights of our trip.

Breakfast the next morning was excellent and our hosts were so eager to make sure we were comfortable heading off to our next destination that we couldn't get away. And we were sorry to have to leave. Sea Shore was amazing.

“Great, family owned B&B”

Sea Shore Farm is a terrific B&B above the Kenmare town center, about a 10 minute walk. The house overlooks the bay, with horses and cows grazing in the fields below. The house is well appointed with comfortable beds and en suite bathrooms. We spent two days here after flying in to Shannon from the US. An excellent way to start a trip to Ireland.

We spent a few days in Kenmare at Sea Shore and could not have wished or asked for a better stay. The B & B is delightful in an idyllic setting on the banks of the Kenmare River.

Owen and Patricia are fantastic hosts and we will be back!

Sea Shore Farm is everything one hopes to find in a B&B but seldom does. Owen and Mary O'Sullivan and their lovely daughter Ann are friendly, kind and helpful. The rooms are attractive with enchanting views of the river across the meadow, flowers everywhere outside the French doors of the welcoming parlor, lovely walking opportunities and maps, guides and advice on the spectacular day trips nearby, not to mention the best porridge in Ireland as part of the sensational breakfasts. Perfectly located close to the Ring of Kerry, Kenmare is everyone's ideal of an Irish town--and as a bonus there are four superb restaurants within the village. Take Mary and Owen's advice and visit the music pub in town (don't remember the name). It was the friendliest, rockingest, most authentic Irish pub experience we had in three weeks in Ireland.
