The Dorint Novotel is a great property! I had a group of 31 people. We were coming from India and arrived before the 14:00 check-in time. All but two of the rooms were ready. As you can imagine, the group was thrilled to be able to shower and relax after the long flight.

The rooms were clean, comfortable, and larger than the typical European hotel room. There is a beautiful indoor pool and sauna area which was the perfect end to a day of travel and sightseeing. In the morning we were greeted with a wonderful breakfast. We used the free shuttle system to go to and from the airport (apx. 10 min. ride) where we caught the train to Amsterdam Central Station. The buses run every 15-20 min. most of the day and then thin out as it gets later in the evening. If you have a group or early flights do be aware of the fact that the shuttle stops at two other hotel properties before the Dorint Novotel. Many times the shuttle is full or very crowded. I had to split up my group and take two different shuttles. This only means allowing plenty of time to check-in at the airport…just don’t allow yourself to get caught in a situation where you have to get on that bus and have no time to wait for the next one.

I am not a fan of airport properties but I must say the Dorint Novotel has my vote and will be my first choice for Amsterdam stop-over/tours. It is a great value! I saved a great deal of money by not taking the hotel transfers buses/vans or taxis to the city hotels. The train in and out of Amsterdam Central is very reasonable.

"Fill your own minibar" pretty much sums it up.

Their only real service is a shared shuttle to and from the AMS airport on a decently frequent basis.

Check in was okay, understaffed. Dinner was good, but over priced. Internet is a mind blowing $6 euros for an hour.

Rooms are nicely appointed, spacious, bed comfortable and television reception was great. I loved the doors and counters in the bathroom. Linens were new and nice.

Check out the next morning was poorly managed, understaffed and they took care of the men while ignoring the women who were also waiting patiently.

Decent for the price, compared to other hotels near the airport.

I stayed here overnight when making a connection from the UK and hoped the hotel would be comfortable and have a good level of service.

When I arrived the check in staff ignored me and then when the acknoledged me, no welcome, were very slow and didn't give me any information about the hotel amenities. The hotel room phone didn't work when I wanted to reuest an iron and board. At reception I was told to try again at 7 am if the other guests had returned it - there was only 1!! PLUS when I asked if it could be dropped into my room at 7am or if I could ring to check whether it had been returned I was told 'you'll have to fetch it yourself'.

Not what I expected from the price at all. Go for a no service hotel like Ibis for a better value and probably more comfortable overnight stop.

Ok, so this hotel wasn't the best location for living the amsterdam life as it was quite far out of the city centre, but what can you expect for an airport hotel! Arrived at the dorint after a long day travelling from brussells to amster, and then a full day in amster so the comfy hotel was just what the doctor ordered. We had requested a twin room, which was actually a double with 2 duvets, but the porter brought along a camp bed for the other person in our party which although was a nice thought we didn't take advantage of. Rooms were well decorated, with good bathroom facilities, tv including bbc 1 and 2, tea, coffee and hot choc making facilities and a mini bar fridge where you purchased what you required from reception to store in your own fridge at a fraction of minibar prices.

An hour later we had an excursion into amsterdam, and upon our return at 10.00pm the super friendly staff were only too pleased to cook us full meals in the intimate basement bar, where we had delicious fresh meals.

Breakfast next morning was the best breakfast I have ever had in a Euro hotel. There was every type of bread and pastry I could imagine, juices, meats, cheeses and smoked salmon, rices, grilled tomato with mozzerella, bacon, sausage, egg, hash browns, coffees, teas, fruits and much , much more.

2nd night another fab meal in the bar, a great satay chicken.

Can't recommend this hotel enough.
