“Fantastic Value, Great Setting”

This is a great place to stay. We stayed in a queen suite and had a lovely view of the quadrangle. It is a very peaceful setting, the rooms are spacious and we were lucky to have a large balcony. It is nothing fancy - the rooms are dated but this just adds to the charm. The bed is comfortable, the rooms are clean and it is good value for money. The Boffins restaurant serves up a great breakfast which is included in the price of the room. Wireless Internet Access is just AU$5 per day which seems very good value so excellent for business travellers. The service during our stay was generally fantastic with the staff bending over backwards to assist with our arrangements.

We had a 4night stay in a suite consisting of double bedroom overlooking the leafy Quadrangle and a lounge with balcony with views of the playing fields and hills. It is a peaceful location with lovely gardens. Breakfast daily (included in an internet tariff) was a full hot buffet taken in Boffins Restaurant. There is a second licensed cafe for cheap evening meals, but with limited choices, and a bottle shop for purchase of beer, wines and spirits. Public transport runs regularly from a bus-stop a couple of hundred metres from the hotel, but service ceases around 2200hrs. You can travel to any of the famous tourist sites through the transport hub in the city centre, and also to the large shopping malls to the north and south. It is only a short ,pleasant stroll to the Central Canberra area or down to Lake Burley Griffin , Screen and Sound Archives and The Museum of Australia. A taxi from the airport was under AUD$20 although you can take buses and change in the city if you are adventurous. For more than one person would hardly save any $ss. Will definately stay at Uni House on next visit.

I stayed at Uni House for one night, and as a base for seeing the city, it was okay. The rooms were spartan, but that's what you expect for only $60 a night! It was nice to have the library and free Internet access just down the hall, and wireless was only $5 a day. It was a bit of a walk to the rest of the city, but then anything in Canberra seemed to be a bit of a walk to anywhere else. It's close to the Australian Museum and the central city (10-15 minute walk), farther from Parliament and the National Gallery (30-45 minute walk).

“Genteel, comfortable, green surroundings”

Still with its original hand made solid timber furnishings and surrounding an exquisite large central mini park with huge beautiful trees and long fish pond, we found this treasure, solidly built in the 50s. A suite has a huge lounge/dining, 2 bedrooms, kitchen with all the basics and a verandah looking out over parkland. This is a unique and comfortable home away from home. Medium price. Eating/bar on site with little well stocked shop. Close to the new Museum (exciting place) and across the bridge to all the well known things - Gallery, Library and Parliament House.

“Simple rooms with a certain old fashioned elegance to it”

The rooms have a certain old fashioned charm to it and are kept in good cleanliness. Yes it is within walking distance to Civic but it's a good 15-25 minutes depending how fast you walk, it's almost 2 km away I think.
