Two friends and I booked a two bedder here last month in anticipation of a big night in Manuka and Kingston after which we would not want to drive home. It's certainly in a convenient location - right between the two nightclub hubs and an easy five minute walk to both. People looking for a convenient base from which to explore Canberra could certainly do a lot worse!
On the positive side, the room was clean and done out in sunny, attractive furniture. There was a lounge suit, a TV and a lovely kitchen area with draws filled with useful cooking stuff. A handy basket with breakfast goodies (little packets of cereal, fruit, muesli bars) was sitting on the microwave and the freezer held a size supply of ice. In the morning we made coffee and drank it on the expansive balcony. All in all, a nice night!
The staff were simply fantastic - helpful, knowledgable and friendly.
My only real complaint with this joint is that the apartments are really, really small. Now, I'm not sure what is usual for an inner-South apartment, so no-room-to-swing-a-rat may well be totally acceptable to most. But it's still slightly shocking to see two bedrooms, a living area, a kitchen, a bathroom and a laundry-area crammed into a such a tiny space! Also, the bathroom has only an older-style shower, no bath and no separate toilet and there is no ensuite. And now I'm nitpicking! Undoubtedly, no matter how relatively small these apartments, you're still (much) better off here than you are at an average hotel; but if you're thinking of a longer stay, it may be worth considering how well you deal with that claustophobic feeling.
Otherwise, book a couple of days and enjoy the trendy side of Canberra!
