I never thought I would make it to Sydney, but January found me staying a week at the Marriott at Circular Quay. Despite the unusally rainy weather, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The hotel is a block away from the main rail and ferry station on the harbor, and some rooms have views of the Opera House (for $50 extra.) The hotel is walking distance to everywhere: the Harbor, the Opera House, The Rocks (great Saturday and Sunday market there), the Botannical Gardens (check out the thousands of fruit bats hanging from the trees by the tropical plant pyramid), Market Street, the Observatory, the Bridge Walk and many great restaurants. The hotel is a very nice Marriott: atrium lobby, lobby lounge, larger-size rooms, very comfortable and clean, and a nice buffet breakfast. You do have to pay for internet access. And the toilets are the low water kind, which means you have to flush them four times. All in all, though, this is a solid pick if you are staying in Sydney.
