Le Cher Du Monde proved to be a perfect choice for my 7 day holiday. In a central location, I had an apartment which was amply large enough for myself as a single occupant or for a family of 4. The accommodation is extremely clean, is air conditioned throughout and the brochure description is exactly what one gets, i.e. excellent in every way. The furniture is in abundance, including that for my balcony, and included an all round channel TV. I had a choice of using stairs to access my accommodation or the rear of the building entrance entailed level ground all the way (no stairs) and easy for wheel chair access. The swimming pool was clean and easily accessible. A launderette is located on the premises. The Managers, Rae & Gordon, were so helpful at all times, very, very pleasant people and undertook tour bookings with no trouble. I will ensure my return in the not too distant future.

We have just spent 7 days over christmas at Le Cher Du Monde. Lovely room. Very clean and the air conditioning was great. Hotel staff very helpful. The hotel is ideally situated for the beach and the marina. It is on the main road with shops and resturants near by. The local bus stops just out side. It was very useful to have access to a washing machine and dryer.

Had a good time here but,
The builders of this place must have been on something. Great for people with no disability but for anyone with mobility problems its a pain. Lots of stairs, no lift but you know we are brits, so we get on with it.
Swimming pool didn't float our boat, jeez don't think it would float anybody's.
Lighting in the place tested us at times especially in the bathroom for make up and shaving etc.
Gordon and Rae are excellent for tour info though and they are there more often than not.
Situated right on the main St. Port Douglas its close by for everything shops, supermarket restaurants bars etc. the Marina is just down the road for trips to the Reef etc.
Would we go again? Port Douglas yes Le Cher Du Monde No.

We have stayed twice in this apartment complex which is affordable and best of all central to everything. One thing you should know about Pt Douglas is that a lot of accommodation - especially resort style - are on the Port Douglas Rd and can be a long tiring walk from town. Booking a car for just getting around the town itself is an expensive option when you can stay in the heart of the Port and have access to everything - shops, restaurants, beach, marina etc. A supermarket is practically across the road from the apartments which makes self catering a breeze and saves you heaps. One tip is to ask for a unit upstairs at the back overlooking the pool - the quietest spot in the complex. The units sleep 4 although 2 are on the sofa bed but its fine for kids. There's a king size bed, 2 dining areas (inside and on the balcony) and TV with DVD player and Foxtel. The bathroom has a small spa and the kitchen has granite benchtops which is nice. There are car parks in the basement which is where the air-conditioning units are so no noise from that area. We prefer to stay in Unit 28 which is the highest unit and being on the end has side windows which means it is lighter and brighter than interior units. The pool is not large but it's one of those with a gradual slope like the beach which is great for little kids. There are barbecues by the pool where you can cook your steaks etc. No complaints at all about this place.
