I travel for a living and have to stay in hotels about 75 times a year so I am pretty picky on my accomidations. I have to say I was very impressed with my entire experience on Green Island. From my arrival at the Ferry Terminal all the way to my departure. Service was exceptional from our greeting at the docks when we first arrived (it was raining and they met us with umbrellas and ponchos), at dinner time with great service, to the bell men, bartender, every part was perfect. Champagne arrived 10 minutes after we checked in with two sodas for the kids. (nice touch) Accomidations were very nice and comfortable. We were traveling with our children 9 & 7 and they had a blast. Night hike with staff was awesome. The snorkeling at Green island is underrated. It was very good as the next week we went snorkeling and diving on the outer reef and Green Island was good in comparison. If you are looking for something very cool you have to stay. Yes the daytrippers are a little annoying as you feel like it is your private island but get over it and you will have the coolest experience ever.

I was just reading the reviews for this resort out of curiosity because we stayed there in March (but it is now November) and I felt it necessary to say that we had a fantastic time. The staff were terrific, the food was delicious and the room was clean and quiet and very nice.
The day trippers didn't worry us at all - in fact we enjoyed the passing parade!
We were there for 5 nights and would go back again in a blink!

“Fabulous and relaxing start to our holiday.”

We and two 17 year old teenagers had 2 wonderful quiet nights at Green Island. The perfect place to stay at the beginning of a longer holiday for that relaxing, wind-down experience.
The hotel's bush lined boardwalks, quiet and beautifully appointed rooms, and helpful and cheerful staff are fantastic, and complimentary bubbly on the beach for hotel guests at sunset after the day-trippers have gone was glorious.
Yes, the day trippers do rather descend on the place in their hordes, and trample over the coral adjacent to the beach, and it is a little irritating everything including the bar closes up at 4pm as they all evacuate.
But ..... the island was kept meticulously clean throughout the day, the sandy beach is gorgeous so we didn't mind sharing, and the clever pricing of chairs and umbrellas for non-hotel guests meant we were always able to get what we wanted.
Breakfast was good and dinner was great. We had the pleasure of meeting the new restaurant and bar manager (of 8 days) and he had plans to rectify concerns expressed in earlier reviews, especially the lack of a welcoming bar open for hotel guests after 4pm to allow them to meet and enjoy more of those delicious cocktails.
We would thoroughly recommend Green Island for a 2-3 night stay.

“Ordinary day trip”

Green Island Resort

My husband and I were excited to visit Green Island in September 2005- but were a bit disappointed. It was very pretty but there were SO many day trippers, very crowded, snorkelling was fairly poor- too many people in water around the island and not too many fish around. The crocs on the island were a highlight- the biggest one around 5.4 metres and was interesting to see in the Marineland Melanesia.

“Not bad - but family resort”

Green Island Resort

Just returned from honeymoon at Green Island Resort.

A few comments for consideration:

This resort is suited more for families and tourists. Day travellers arrive from approx 9 am and clear out about 5pm. So if you want some peaceful time pack yourself up and go to the far side if the island or wait until after 5pm.

Breakfast needs some attention. The food was rarely changed and alot of the food such as pancakes, eggs etc were often left out too long and fresh servings were few and far between. And get ready to battle the birds whom try and take the food from your table.

Dinner on the other hand was great. The seafood is fresh and the mains are quite tasty especially the steaks and lamb.

One thing that was annoying is the fact that in order to get bar service at a pool you need to leave the resort and join the day trippers and screaming kids.

There is a pool in the resort but no service available. From a hotel guests perspective it would be much nicer to enjoy the pool in the resort and a cocktail and not have to worry about dodging a scuba diving introductory class at the same time.

Rooms were great with all the essentials taken care of and cleaning service was good.

One comment to management. People these days require access to the internet!! Not having internet access for four days could cause issues in trying to communicate and or manage ones finances whilst away.

Would I go back?? Probably not for a honeymoon but maybe for a day trip.
