“Excellent Boutique Hotel”

Hotel Lindrum

4 of 5 stars
London, UK

Few hotels can boast a view of the neighbouring multi-storey car park from many of the rooms (it's right next door) and still get away with it. For this reviewer, Hotel Lindrum is one of them.

The Lindrum is a stylish, comfortable, well-run and well located boutique hotel (the free circle line tram stops almost outside). Great internet rates can be had if searched for and the superior rooms are worth the slightly higher cost. If you're planning on spending time gazing out of the window rather than exploring Melbourne, and car park watching is not your thing, request a Deluxe Room. Bathrooms deserve a favourable mention.

The staff are highly professional and very willing to recommend and suggest places to eat, drink and visit. They know their city and are happy to advise their guests. Free and fast internet access for those with a laptop is a major plus. Breakfast is a slight (and more costly than it should be) disappointment, but Melbourne has plenty of places to snack. And that neighbouring car park makes parking very easy!

We were highly looking forward to staying in this recommended design hotel. We unfortunately experienced a dramatic deception when we discovered that the nicely furnished room had a big window with a view on a very next parking! Not only the light during the day was minimal but the worst was at night when the light of the nearby parking prevents you from sleeping... that night we only slept 3 hours. The next day we were able to change our room with a view this time on a wall! But at least we could sleep at night.
Out of 60 rooms only 8 Deluxe rooms have a view, so if you decide to stay at this hotel, avoid at all costs the rooms overlooking the parking situated on the right side of the building.

lovely place in an excellent position for everything melbourne. breakfast and service couldnt be fulted. our rom had an excellent view of the multistory next door with the consequence that we could have very little daylight without giving melbourne commuters full view. as it was around melbourne cup time, there werent any alternative rooms.

“Loved the Lindrum!”

What a fabulous hotel. I have been to Melbourne 4 times in the past 2 years.... and stayed at 4 different hotels (including the Adelphi which would be similar in type to the Lindrum). Any future plans I have to visit this excellent city will incorporate a stay this hotel. The staff are lovely, nothing was too much trouble. I asked if I could check in on-line for the flight back home and they allowed me to use their laptop and printed off my boarding passes for me without so much as a blink of an eyelid.

I am not a fan of fussy or overly 'done' hotel rooms, so for me the style was perfect. The rooms are spacious and luxurious- we stayed in a Junior Suite for 5 nights. The amenities were Molton Brown but I noticed other guests had Natio (an Australian brand), not sure why? I wouldn't get too excited about the views from your room unless you like the look of a brick wall or staircase. This didn't bother me, however if you are into views of Melbourne I would suggest another hotel.

The location is great, within walking distance of pretty much everywhere, including the wonderful Federation Square and laneways. Melbourne is full of groovy places and some fanatstic restaurants. 'MoVida' (Spanish), 'The Press Club' (Greek), 'Bar Lourinha' and 'Gingerboy' are within walking distance and are all very good. 'Der Raum' (a bar) is about a 7 minute taxi ride from the hotel and well worth the trip to Richmond (slightly out of the CBD).

All in all, a very stylish and sleek Melbourne expereince. Absolutely lives up to its reputation. I hope to enoy many, many more stays the the Lindrum!

The location of this hotel is not the most attractive, but it is fairly handy for the city centre.

This was my first stop on this Australia trip, so I was terribly jetlagged and appreciated the friendly welcome from the chatty hotel staff. The room was great too - spacious, clean and comfortable.

I didn't try the restaurant, not even for breakfast, as I thought it pricey.
