We stayed there as part of a Secret Hotel romance package which included valet parking, room service breakfast, wine, chocolates, champagne and a drawn spa bath.
PLUSes:
- We asked for an upgrade and got a spacious studio suite on the 14th floor with a 2 storey floor-to-ceiling window overlooking the city, even though it was a public holiday. It was a very pleasant surprise!
- Supplies included Lindt chocolates, a bottle of Moet Imperial champagne and Bvlgari toiletries. Very fluffy towels and bathrobes.
- The master controls (including air conditioning) for the room were right next to the bed. How many times have you thought about turning up the heat because you were freezing yet didn't want to leave your cozy bed? This was great.
- Great location on Little Collins St, close to everything, and a very pretty walk past swanky boutiques and restaurants.
- Valet parking was very handy. The hotel kindly let us pick up the car anytime after checking out so we could wander the city at our leisure and drive home later in the evening.
- Early check in of 12 and late check out at 1pm.
- Well-equipped kitchenette
OKs:
- Room service breakfast was average: we got supermarket white bread, BUT the eggs, bacon and sausage were yummy.
- The staff were helpful but not overly so. They looked a bit understaffed and overworked to me, especially at check out time.
- The room was spacious but needed updating. Decor was dated but comfortable.
- Tiny but well-designed bathroom.
- Driving to the front of the hotel can be tricky, that section of the street can be a bit crowded too.
All in all, a satisfying, value-for-money stay. A great package I'd book again, although this time I might spring for the massage package.
