The hotel is perfectly located in the centre of Melbourne and i'd be lying if i said it was anything less than faultless.

Great rooms, great staff, great food, great views....you get the idea...

If i was being really picky i'd say the internet is fairly pricey but hey, theres a starbucks over the road! ; )

Would recommend absolutely every time...

Booked this to stay while my daughter and I went to the cricket and explored Melbourne. Staff were great - nothing was too much trouble and they gave us lots of helpful tips. Room service was good as the hotel restaurant was closed.
After my visit I had an issue with the company I booked through. Louis in the hotel finance department helped me sort it out and then checked later that I had received the money back that I was owed. A great hotel experience. I would certainly visit again.

Has all the furnishings of a 5 star hotel but the service didn't live up to the rating. They offer complimentary shoe shine and I had to speak to 3 different people to get it done. The gym is OK and the pool is quite nice. Rooms are quite nice with a mini-kitchen and a separated bedroom / lounge room.

We stayed at the Stamford Plaza a number of years ago when it was the Park Royal. We returned this month as we had a dinner in the city and didn't want to drive home afterward.
I must say the cleanliness and general look and feel of the hotel are as good as they have ever been. However, on the last visit we payed full price and this time we booked through LastMinute.com so we got a budget suite. this was a mistake.
The Stamford prides itself on saying every room is a suite and they keep to that rule no matter how small the room. This was the case with ours. The hotel's attempt to get a lounge, kitchenette, bedroom, bathroom and toilet into a space smaller than most single hotel rooms was bordering on ridiculous. The clutter reminded me of my grandparents' old granny flat into which they also tried to fit all items of their long lives.
To complete the picture. the bed was the hardest thing I have ever slept on... to a point where the pain in my arm woke me up after a few hours.
Finally... after our dinner we returned to the hotel about 11pm... and wanted a drink in the hotel bar (Harry's). The drinks were poorly made and the bar tender looked as if he wanted to be anywhere else but in that place serving guests. I hate feeling like I am imposing when I am paying $33 for two drinks!
