“Three cheers for Te Puna Wai”

Te Puna Wai Lodge

5 of 5 stars
New York

Possibly the best b&b owners on the planet, Richard and James are terrific chefs, well read, verbose, quirky, and do everything in their power to make sure you have a wonderful stay in their equally beautiful home. I loved this place so much I left my passport in their new safe and they had to mail it to me in Christchurch! (gasp). But even amidst that panic, they were graceful and cheery: you leave wanting to be lifelong friends.

If you like B&B's, you'll LOVE this homey place. What can I say that hasn't already been said? The reviews made us very curious to see if it was all hype and we are glad to report; they speak the truth. Richard and James are there for you when you want them and genuinely want to make your stay enjoyable and be as much help as they can. They really know the area's activities and their restaurant recommendations are on the mark.
It's just the perfect lodging to experience Nelson and the surrounding area, a very sweet piece of New Zealand.

Te Puna Wai was my absolute favorite place we stayed while in New Zealand. The location was excellent for a day trip to Abel Tasman and close to many great restaurants in Nelson. After a long day of kayaking we were able to relax with gorgeous views out of the top floor bedroom after an excellent dinner at Stingray in Nelson. I cannot say enough about the renovations that have occurred at this old home - it looks fantastic.

The breakfasts were quite delicious including fresh fruits, avocados, and bacon.

“Wonderful Views”

This friendly b/b has wonderful views over Nelson. It is excellently situated for access to some really good eating places including the fabulous Italian restaurant...Venice Cove...only minutes away. The breakfasts are served in the spacious airy dining room with views over the Bay. Richard and James are friendly and full of good advice on places to visit, things to do and where to eat. Breakfasts include delicious fresh fruit. Rooms have been thoughtfully furnished and the bathrooms are really well appointed. A really caring approach makes for a most comfortable and relaxing stay.

“Simply Fabulous!!!”

Te Puna Wai Lodge

I stayed at Te Puna Wai for 2 nights mid Jan in the Wakatu Room...I searched for days to find a nice cozy place that had beautiful views and was still close to town and was pleasantly surprised when I arrived...it was everything I had hoped for and more. Richard and James are the most wonderful hosts who really went out of their way to make sure my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. I have to say the breakfast was absolutely spectacular...something you would expect at a 5 Star resort! I truly believe I was so lucky that there was availability for the nights I stayed...I could not imagine staying anywhere else in Nelson! A huge thank you to Richard and James for their wonderful hospitality and suggestions and making me feel like a princess!!!
