I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in late September 2007. Let me start by saying that this is by no means a terrible hotel. It was in a good location, was clean, had simple accommodations and had fairly large rooms by European standards. My complaint is that this hotel does not come close to being worth the cost and is in no way a luxury hotel. Standard rates at this hotel are upwards of US$300 a night and the hotel bills itself was one of the best hotels in all of Slovakia. I chose this hotel only because it was one of a handful of places in Bratislava that had baby cribs for my infant daughter and I thought I would spend a few extra dollars to stay at the "best hotel" in the city. I have to say I was totally disappointed in the accommodations and the service because I was expecting something special. This Radisson was just like any airport Radisson, Doubletree or Courtyard Marriott in the United States -- it was a standard business hotel. There was no real front desk (just a couple guys at podiums), there was no real concierge (a counter with pamphlets), and no real bell captain (my wife and I carried our own bags in and out and there is occasionally a man by the front door who will arrange a cab for you). The amenities in the room were substandard as well: no refrigerator or mini bar, no bathrobes, two towels, a couple of small soaps and bath gels (which I had to request be replenished on the third night). The staff were not unfriendly, but nothing like what I was expecting from a 4 star hotel. Had I known that this was a Radisson just like any Radisson in the USA or had the nightly rate been about 50% less, I would not have been disappointed, but I had some real false expectations about the "#1 hotel in Bratislava". Several others in our party stayed at the Danube or Crowne Plaza and paid more than US$100 less per night and were totally satisfied with their accommodations.
On the positive side, I will say that the breakfast was pretty good, the hotel is beautiful on the outside, and the location is one of the best in the city.
