I had to book at this property because the hotel in which my conference was held was sold out.
Location/Check-in
First, be very careful and ensure you want to stay at this hotel. Their cancellation policy is a 24 hour one, not a day of, like most Hilton properties I've stayed. I tried to cancel same day, and they weren't having that.
The hotel is a bit far out for my tastes. Is a good 15 minute hike to the nearest Metro (Dupont) and some of the streets are a bit isolated at night, which I don't love. There is a Hopkins University branch very close by so there were a decent amount of students on the streets, which made me feel a little safer. Lots of restaurants on Mass or New Hampshire, so definitely can walk to eat.
Check-in was fine and they accommodated my room requests. Even got a free upgrade, which was nice. Free hot cookie at check-in and staff was pretty friendly. There is a restaurant on site, however I didn't eat any meals there so wouldn't be comfortable rating it. Wasn't able to check out the fitness center or business center.
Room
The hotel does show some age. From the elevator to the hallway to the room itself. Needed a little sprucing up. Because I had a suite, I can only rate the suite, I'm not sure how their standard rooms are. The suite had a nice area to store beverages, drinks and a coffee maker. They gave me two free bottles of water and some snacks as well. The living room had a sofa, ottoman and desk and there was a table and chairs as well. The TV was decent, had closed captioning and good amount of channels.
Bed was very comfortable and they offered different types of pillows, however the linens could have been much cleaner. Alarm clock was fine, however this is the 2nd time in a row that my alarm clock at a Hilton Property had no back-light on the alarm clock so in the dark you have no idea what time it is. Bed was firm enough and slept fine. Wake up call was right on time.
The bathroom was absolutely huge. Almost oddly huge. There was a regular toilet (that seemed to have some power issues, barely flushed) and the bathroom also featured a bidet, which I was scared to use because it didn't look all the clean/new. Never used one before and was at least interesting. Shower had decent water pressure and towels were decently clean. Iron and iron board were fine, nothing super impressive. A lot of the light switches were nasty dirty, which is a really basic housekeeping issue, need some magic erasers or something.
Overall, the one-room suite was very large and was definitely big enough for more than one person. Enjoyed the free beverages and snacks, however housekeeping left a bit to the imagination.
