Our room was very comfortable - larger than we expected, with cushions on the couch that could be moved to the floor for sitting and playing. Comfortable sleeping - except for pillows, which were very soft. We asked for hard pillows, and there were none, so we actually bought a couple of cheap hard foam pillows at the nearby bed, bath, and beyond and were reinbursed by the hotel! The pool is very small and was closed for part of our stay for a clean-up of some unspecified disaster. My biggest A++ was that the room was quiet. If that's an issue for you, request a room facing the back. The morning scene is convivial, with lots of travelers loading up on breakfast foods. Absolutely fine for kids - waffles, sausage, breakfast cereals, fresh fruit, donuts, etc. The staff is trying very hard to be friendly and helpful. We walked everywhere - to the Capitol, museums, etc. I wouldn't feel 100% comfortable walking past the little park across the street from the hotel at night, or by the corner two blocks away, of 6th and H, so you might just want to keep a head's up on that. You can walk downtown on 7th or 9th.
Valet parking is expensive, worth it for one night, but if you plan not to use your car, as we did, there's a parking lot one block further up on 6th ST. that charges $20 a night. For your last night, you might want to use the valet, as you have to be out of the $20. lot by 7 AM, and you can stay at the hotel lot til 3, with your bags stowed.
