Arrived just before midnight to Jurys Normandy for the start of our 3 night stay and were told the only room available for myself and my wife had 2 beds. We took the room, it was small and tight with the 2 single beds. The room was dated and need of refurbishment but was clean. To be honest, for just under $300 we were paying per night it was very much a disappointment.
The next morning, we went to reception to ask for a room with one bed. This was facilitated with no problem. The room we were given was the same size but had been very recently refurbished. It had a large king bed which was very comfortable. Flat screen tv. Superb aircon. The decor was bright and airy and the bathroom was amazing with a 4 head shower/wet room. The only downside was the view was of the back alley of the hotel but this was minor. This room felt alot more in keeping with the price we were paying and was consistent with the standard of Jurys Boston which I am more familar with.
So my only piece of advice is if you book this hotel request a renovated room.
The hotel itself is in the embassy area of DC, nice quiet residential area. 10 mins walk from Dupont Circle with its restaurants and metro downtown to the great city of DC.
I would recommend the Kramerbrooks bookshop at Dupont for breakfast, especially at their outdoor seating out the back.
The only negative point of DC was the inconsistent taxi charging by zone, but I heard a police officer saying that this was due to change to meter shortly.
Overall DC was a great city to visit and this hotel is in a good location for that visit and the hotel's renovated room was excellent.
