We visited KBC for our 10-year wedding anniversary. My husband and I are in our mid-to-late 30's and were not traveling with children. We had traded in our timeshare week for a week on this property. The property is lush and green. Hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. Anytime we had questions, they were attentive to our needs.

Their happy hour at their casual restaurant is very nice. They have 1/2 price fruity drinks during happy hour. The food was expensive (as are most things in Maui), but pretty good, especially when we didn't feel like going off-property. The bartenders are pretty personable and friendly. I had breakfast in the mornings at the nicer/fine dining restaurant. The buffet is pretty basic and has omelets and such. The views of Lanai from the restaurant are amazing on a clear days. They also have a casual take-out cafe for fast-food type stuff. We didn't try this cafe during our stay.

We had a pretty sizeable room for the two of us. It was a one BR, king-size with living room and pull-out sofa. It had a dining room and kitchenette, with a full refrigerator, microwave, sink, toaster, and most kitchen cutlery. My only complaint was about the timeliness of room service. One day, we had been out all day and by 3 pm room service had not serviced our room. They arrived just as we got in at 3. Call me crazy, but I think room service should be done by then.

We were in room 906 in the Ohana Tower. The room had a balcony with a couple of chairs, a small drink table and a lounging chaise. I frequently sat on the balcony on the lounger reading early in the morning or right before sunset. We overlooked the adjacent property and the pool, but had a good side view of the ocean. The only thing that I was only slightly annoyed about, which KBC could do nothing about, was the early construction noise of the new property next door - - truck noise and such. If you're a sensitive sleeper, you may want to request a room on the other side of the resort.

I used the spa for a pedicure. It's by no means high-end, but gets the job done. The ladies there were very nice.

Parking is $13/day in the garage regardless of whether or not you self-park or use valet. From what I understand, this is pretty standard for properties in Maui. Parking was never a problem. The elevators were a bit slow, especially coming from the lower level to upper levels, but we weren't really in a rush for anything, so the wait was the wait.

The pool area has a waterfall pool area, a hot tub, a large pool, a kids pool and a water slide. It's pretty substantive and we never had issue finding open chairs at any time during the day.

For those of you who want to work out while on vacation, they have a small work out room with cardio equipment, free weights, and nautilus equipment. From my view from the balcony, the work out room seemed to be well-used, especially in the mornings. My husband hit it a couple of times, but I was no where near there during this vacation.

The beach that the resort is on is really pretty and didn't have many people on it. I'm thinking that we were there during non-peak, but I was really surprised that it wasn't bumper to bumper people. We were able to hang out really anywhere on the beach.

For eating off-resort, we hit Pizza Paradiso, in the shopping center across the street from KBC. I wish we had hit it earlier in our trip. It's pretty good stuff. Also, we were about 15 minutes from Old Lahaina town, where all the restaurants and shopping are. There's a convenience store (ABC store) to the left of the resort, within walking distance. It's good for getting your macadamia nuts, magnets, and cheesy Hawaiian souvenirs. You can also hit the Safeway in Lahaina on the way to KBC to grab groceries for the week if you want to eat in a couple of times.

I think that's it. All in all, it was a great experience. We would visit the resort again.

This is a time share formerly managed as Embassy Resorts; however, there was no hot breakfast each day. The 2BR-2BA condo #839 with sofabed was very spacious; a wraparound balcony provided stunning views of the beach and pool below. The kitchen included a microwave, full refrigerator , coffee maker and dishwasher. Other appliances included by request were electric skillet, toaster, rice cooker and crock pot. Unfortuantely there was no oven or range to cook a real meal. Housekeeping provided towel changes each day, but general cleaning only once during the weeklong stay. The decor in the outdoor lobby was Hawaiian, but the corridors were starkly devoid of anything. Free wireless internet is only available in the lobby. A small exercise room and game room are on the premises. Rental of beach cabanas and miniature golf games were not free. Local grocery store, pizza parlor and sandwich shops available within walking distance. The concierges were not knowledgeable in directing guests to local (not tourist) attractions.

“Loved the Ka'anapali Beach Club!”

Ka'anapali Beach Club

What a lovely resort! THis was our first trip to Hawaii EVER, and the open air lobby was beautiful. The pink is something else, lemme tell you. The front desk staff was very helpful (especially Cindy.) We were booked for a one BR w/ two double beds and the pullout in the lving room. Traveling w/ two teen boys I was a little doubtful as to how it would all work.
After the first night, we asked to switch to a king BR instead. Not only was it not a problem, but the new room had a sensational view on the 12th floor! The bathroom was enormous! Granite in the kitchen and bath, high end. The TVs were regular as opposed to flat screens in the first room, but w/ views like that, who cares? Every morning to wake to those views were a delight. The breakfast was standard but convenient and the coffee was great. Omelet man? A hoot!
The pool was never too crowded (spring break) and the bar and snack areas were also convenient. My kids LOVED the minigolf! Plus they also played real golf at the Ka'anapali Kai.
Shopping on Front st. was fun, also dining and shopping in Whalers Village was great. Not too far away w/ our rental car either. We went snorkeling on the Quicksilver, it was ok, next time we'll just try off the beach at the hotel. The gym at the hotel was clean and most equipment was newer. Housekeeping did a great job.
We had a super-late flight the day we left and the front desk was very accomodating with a late checkout. P.S. The towel thing ($50 per towel if lost!) was scary, but you get the hang of it and it's fine. I understand why they do it.

“Exceeded All Expectations”

Ka'anapali Beach Club

My family (my wife and kids ages 7, 9 and 11) made our first trip to Hawaii in February 2008. Our trip to Maui was fabulous, and the Ka'anapali Beach Club was the main reason why.

While I have read some reviews that tell of unfriendly staff and/or substandard rooms.......we experienced neither (and we are not timeshare owners).

The staff at check-in was great. We were able to get into the room before the posted check-in hour.

Our room was very nice and very clean. We had a "mountain view" reservation, but ended up in a room with a view that was 50% ocean and 50% coast line and mountains (see photo). The bathroom was huge with separate tub and shower, two sinks and room to do a fox trot in between. The King Bed was very comfortable and the pull-out was okay (but for the kids - it was fine). It was nice having the DVD player in the family room. There was plenty of closet space for luggage and clothes.

Our package included breakfast - which was an awesome way to start each day. Coming from the east - we were early risers each day and really enjoyed the tables by the large windows looking out at the beach (see photo - nearly on the beach) and watching the daylight come out (and seeing the whales splash about). The main part of the buffet was good. The variety of food and drinks was terrific. The omlette station was fabulous. The omlette maker was tops (with his style and charisma - bam!!) and the omlettes were terrific.

Lunch allows you to make good use of the small kitchen (fridge to keep the drinks cold and plenty of storage for the food/snacks). The eating area (and other furniture) was very nice. The AC worked very effectively and efficiently.

The drive to Lahaina is no more than 10 minutes. Very convienient for an evening dinner run (with tons of options).

While the possibilities are endless in Maui - we chose to spend a significant portion of our time at the KBC. The pool is great, the beach is literally steps away. In fact, if you rent a one of the covered "cabanas" (which were reasonable), you can watch the kids in parts of the pool and the beach (or all relax and enjoy some family time with a great view, but out of the sun for a bit). We enjoyed both pool and beach. Instead of chosing between the pool and beach each time you go down, they are so close, you actually do both. The slide was great for the 7 year old and we all enjoyed the water volleyball.

There were plenty of beach chairs (and towels) available and the poolside bar and snack shop were closeby and very good (and reasonable).

The putt-putt course was a fun time for the family.

We did experience a couple of elevator hang-ups (slow elevators) - but we just went to the next tower and used the elevaors there. It was really not a big deal. And, as for the pink walls on the building, we liked the tropical feel it gave.

Best of all, this was a convienient and safe environment for the family. If you have a room in the tower near the pool/beach, you can be from room to beach chair in approximately two minutes.

I highly recommend this hotel for anyone that enjoys a stay at a resort with very nice (and spacious) rooms, friendly service and convenient access to a large pool/beach area.....all at a very competitive price.
