We chose the Ibis principally because of its close proximity to the railway station. We used Fes as our base and made train trips to Meknes and Casablanca. The value was extraordinary as the room was very well furnished and there was a good breakfast with both Moroccan and European food. There was also a very attractive garden and pool which my room overlooked. One of our group even had a small terrace facing the garden. Although there is too much to do sightseeing in Fes to spend time in the pool, I did use the sun loungers a couple of times while waiting for my friends and that was very pleasant. One of the group has British/Moroccan nationality and he got a discount of 20%. We found the staff very pleasant and helpful but this may be because my Moroccan friend spoke to them in Arabic and French. They recommended us to a restaurant in the new part of town called Zagora (5 Blvd Mohamed V, Imb. Tlemsan.) and having found it we ate hardly anywhere else. The cuisine is French and Moroccan, extremely good and quite reasonable. It is no tourist trap like the mansions in the old city that only cater to tourist groups. Although there were some tourists there, there were also many Moroccans. I doubt you could find a better meal or friendlier service in Fes.
