Fred and the gang were wonderful. Someone was always paying attention to our needs. Even though the Riad was full it seemed to be our special place. They made our stay a relaxing one. We were all over 60 and had booked the 2 suites on the ground floor. Both suites were tasteful and wonderful with a fireplace we used each night as it was cold in the evenings in Fes in April. Tere were personal touches everywhere. The food was so good we had breakfast, lunch and dinner in the Riad. The one time we ate dinner outside, it was 4 times as much and half the goodness. The service made us feel we were in our own home. Nothing was too much for the help. Samira even gave me some ad hoc cooking lessons. Guests were warmly welcomed into the kitchen at all hours of the day to observe. All was done with a big smile. It was extremely clean also. One had the feeling of coming in from chaos to tranquil peace. Great music and good books were on hand to soothe the weary soul.
As they say location location location. We parked in a safe government parking place where Alexsa met us. We had only a short downhill walk to the Riad and the heart of the souk. Our luggage was taken by local carrier and was there before us. We went daily into the souk from the Riad for several hours, even our 85 year old was able to keep up. However oldies should make sure you get a ground floor room. The steps to the upper floors were murder. The souk itself was up and down hill so we would go down hill and take a taxi back up to the top and home. It wasn't too much for us. On the day we left, the Riad packed a light breakfast and got us off in our car exactly on time. Promptly at 6:45 AM our luggage man arrived and Alexsa, Fred's assistant, was there to say goodbye to us. Will definitely go again as we live in Portugal. Can't wait for the hammam to be finished I can only imagine how great that will feel!
