We stayed here for a night two weeks ago. We were supposed to be staying for two nights but were "evacuated" to another hotel outside of the park, due to Maoist activity which meant that no cars could be used. The hotel seemed to have been built in the 70s and not much has been done since then. It appeared to have capacity for around 60 people, but there were only 8 of us there, making the place seem bleak and remote. We had to change room as the supposed hot water from solar heating was non-existent, in the dingy room we were given. The hotel has no electricity which in itself is no problem, but I really struggled with the kerosene lamps and the fumes they gave off. Positives were the elephant trips, and education and the fact that you could visit them whenever you wanted as they were on-site. We were both really pleased when we were evacuated to a hotel nearer the airport, however we were stranded in the middle of nowhere as the hotel manager refused to let his driver go to the hotel we were being transferred to, and the car that hotel sent was too small for us and our luggage so we ended up having to bribe the driver from the Chitwan to take us! All in all, there's no way we would return to this place.
