Being a Taiwanese, living overseas, I cannot help drooling thinking about the food from the hotel! It's famous for a good reason! With over a handful of amazing cuisines, some of the best and most well known on the island, drawing lots of local people. Taiwanese people are so passionate and picky with food and it's indeed their favorite dinner topic, that you know you are in the right place when you see the locals crowding in!
Especially try the buffet (best hotel breakfast ever) on the first floor, the thai, the "guest house," which is traditional chinese food so refined that you can only find in taiwan or hong kong, not even in china. the japanese restaurant, good for dining alone at the sushi bar, or booking a private room in the back for biz dinner, has beautiful lighting, furnishings, and impeccable kimonos for the waitresses, AND "antoine" - though you may not necessary come to taiwan for french cuisine, the food and dessert is just excellent, and the furnishing is tasteful, at least take a look. Book well in advance though, the restaurants tend to be always packed.
Other than that, the service is great, the management is very generous, efficient, with great language skills, which it's not necessary easy to find in other taipei hotels.
The executive lounge on the 17f is a nice place to spend time on a rainy day inside, with free FAST wireless, food service, a relaxing atmosphere where you can catch up with emails or even staying there comfortably to work all day.
The outdoors pool on the rooftop is small, but usually nice and quiet and the facilities including sauna are all really new.
The rooms are newly renovated and maintained well, try the 14f suite with beautiful artworks. (they even have a contemporary art gallery that just opened in november 07 at the basement.)
after traveling for work all the time, i highly recommend this hotel. and many of my friends from abroad all shared the same enthusiasm! this is not the typical sheraton you'd expect! No complaints!
