Business serviceThe staff at the Amari Watergate are to be commended for looking after their guests. Very professional! Immaculate rooms, excellent facilities, and great food in the Thai on 4. Centrally located for shopping or getting around town. Wine prices are a bit pricey but that is the norm in Thailand it seems so enjoy the beer or a mango smoothie instead! We hope we will be able to visit again. They spoiled us.

Business serviceWe stayed here in 2004, so things may have changed there. The rooms were large and clean. Breakfast extensive and delicous. A large pool area with nearby bar and plenty of deck chairs. The bar prices were steep though for Bangkok.
The location of the hotel is great. Markets directly outside the hotel. A brand new 'Platinum' shopping centre across the road. Its a wholesale centre so if you purchase 3 items or more, you get great discounts. Mainly womens clothing, shoes and accesories, but mens, childrens and some home wares too. Even as an English size 10, I found it difficult to find clothes to fit. If you are very petite, shopping in Asia is great and there are bargains to be had.
Just up from there is 'Pantip Plaza'. A techi heaven with 6 levels of computers, electronics, hard drives, cameras, DVD's and much more.
Our holiday was part of a package which inlcuded a 3 day stop over at the Amari. Due to a flight distruption (no fault of our own) the flights were moved 1 day ahead. The hotel however didn't honour this and we had to pay for the 3rd day ourselves.
We decided to stay extra time in Bangkok and thought, as we were already staying in the Amari, they would give us a better deal. We were wrong. After much confusion and staff that had only basic English, they directed us to the computer and we ended up booking online with another company. We printed off the voucher & this worked out cheaper than prices quoted by staff. They did of course charge us for the internet time & printing!
I do hope that these minor issues have been rectified and that staff now understand English more than at that time. I would stay there again due to the location, facitilites and cleanliness.

Business serviceThis is my second time to stay in Amari Watergate Hotel because I loved it so much the first I was there last November 2007. The rooms are impeccable and the service is amazing. The staff speak excellent English and are very courteous. The executive assistant manager, Mr. Henkel and guest relation officer, Usana really took the time out from their busy schedule to chat with us and make us feel welcome.
The amenities are very nice especially the pool. It also has a tour desk at the 3rd floor (6am-11pm) so it's easy to book your tours. If you're lazy to go out for meals, the hotel has very good restaurants like Heichinrou (for chinese food) and Henry J. Beans (for american food; you have got to try the burger!). It also has a reasonably priced spa wherein you get an in-room massage. It has free WiFi in the lobby and lobby cafe so go ahead and bring your laptops.
But the best thing about this hotel is the location especially for avid shoppers like me. First, money changers are everywhere. Just go out of your hotel, turn right and at the corner, there is already one. Behind the hotel is the Pratunam Market if you are in the mood for cheap shopping. Everything is here: clothes, shoes, accessories, bags, food, etc. Don't forget to haggle for prices because they have "wholesale" rates if you get 3 or more stuff. Right across the street from the hotel is the Platinum Fashion Mall. It's cooler here and less crowded with stalls and stalls of clothes, shoes etc. On the 6th floor is a food court that's very cheap and delicious.
If you are up for a bit more luxurious shopping, go across the street, turn left, then turn right on the first street. Ahead is the Central World Plaza with branded/designer shops like Louis Vuitton, Prada, Burberry, Stella McCartney, Michael Kors, etc and restaurants. Further down this road is the Siam Paragon Mall which also has branded/designer shops. Ask for a map from the guest relation officer.
All in all, after a hard day of walking, sightseeing, shopping and haggling, it was great to go back to a great hotel to relax and recharge in. Definitely, a home away from home.
