My family stayed at Somerset Park Suanplu for five days in Dec 2007. The service apartment is spacious, and the free internet access and well-equipped kitchen are two examples that kept everyone happy throughout the stay.
We have stayed in hotels in Bangkok that are near to the train stations but since there are four of us, we were fine with calling for cabs. In any case, the apartment provides free transportation to the nearest train station on hourly basis.
I will certainly recommend the apartment to small or large families.
Perhaps one dissatisation is the breakfast. The selection was poor by most standards. The "fruit juices" were syrup drinks and food selection rather paltry. Since we had five days of stay, it was a pain to eat there even from the second day onwards. Worse, for a two-room apartment that we booked, we were given 3 bf vouchers per day. We couldn't believe how inflexible the resaurant captain was in insisting that we cannot use our vouchers in advance and must pay for the "extra" person on the first day. My girls gladly took turns to skip bf from the next day on. My offer to skip bf was soundly rejected. Anyway, all of us skipped bf on the last day because we simply couldn't stomach the lousy bf. It's an irony that our experience could have been better if we were allowed to consume all our vouchers early, and I would have rated the apartment excellent as well.
Sorry to have written so much on the bf. Just want to manage people's expectation regards this, because the apartment indeed is a great place to stay. I would certainly stay there again, without bf in the package.
