“Amazing & Wonderful Small Hotel in Bangkok”

The Eugenia

Amazing and SO stylish!
From the quirky , stylish front of house staff to the copper bath tubs, the REAL Irish linen bedsheets to the French Maid costumes on the great female hotel wait staff, not to mention the dozen or so single malts and all the vodka and gin brands known to man and all stacked on antique furniture AND a "die for " wall of art , design and cooking books, this place is HEAVEN. The pool is wonderful as are the vintage cars that tootle one around.
A design triumph in that wonderful crossover style between the best of Colonial Asia and the best of the quirkiness of the great small London hotels all served up in a manner that could only be Thai. The poms sort of get the style thing together but rarely nail the service thing, they have to rely on the young Euros to help them past the shopkeeper thing, whereas this establishment has mastered the crossover-

“Charming colonial style boutique hotel, expect boutique service”

The Eugenia

We just got back from a weekend stay in a Sawasdee room at The Eugenia. Overall we were very happy with the hotel & would stay there again. However, we would warn off those who are expecting the same service as at a full-service Bangkok hotel. This is a small boutique city hotel with simple but tasteful furnishings & simple but sincere service.

The ground floor public areas (bar, restaurant, pool) are decorated in a charming colonial style - the bar is a beautiful place to have an evening cocktail, with a library, stuffed peacock, old maps, carved wood screens, daybeds, comfy sofas etc. providing a cozy ambience. The restaurant is a jewel box with gorgeous blue/gold chinoiserie painted wallpaper (though we didn't eat there). The pool in the courtyard is smallish but adequate for a dip. Our room was rather spare & felt less well decorated than the other areas, but this didn't bother us too much. The hammered aluminum tub had plenty of hot water supply.

We had airport transfers in a lovely restored vintage Jaguar S-class - highly recommended. They have a full fleet of vintage cars available to choose from. The service wasn't as seamless as you'll find at the Oriental, Peninsula, etc., but we wouldn't expect that from a much smaller & less expensive hotel. Definitely recommended for those seeking an alternative to the large chain hotels. Also in a terrific location for restaurants, bars, shopping along the trendy stretch of Sukhumvit.

Note too that the Relais & Chateaux web site didn't have the correct availability information when I tried to book (said it was available when it wasn't) - contact the hotel directly.

The Eugenia Hotel is really a stylish and gorgeous little hotel. The service and food there also impeccable. The linen sheets could be a little stiff but thats matching the whole colonial style experiance. I stayed there with my fiance (now husband) for a week, felt like i was living a movie. I suggest anyone who visits Bangkok to try it.

“V Nice up-market boutique hotel”

Wonderful old-fashioned boutique hotel on soi 31 - not walking distance from the usual night life attractions, but a bit more peaceful for it. Big, comfortable old fashioned rooms and bath rooms. Excellent F&B in the library style public areas. Complimentary internet access and lap-top loan. Only 12 rooms, so feels much more like a home from home than the standard 5-star factory. Not especially good value for money, but worth the price for something different.

“class act!”

The Eugenia

A class act in every way! Eugenia delivers what they promise!
We stay in Bangkok on business very often to getaway from the boring, drab cookie-cutter world of the big chains of hotels.
Being hoteliers ourselves we are always on the look out for a gem and is very critical when hotels do not meet expectations.
The Eugenia has that old-world colonial charm from the decor, the well-stacked libray, the room with the old-fashion handmade
copper tub and the lounge you definitely feel the charm.
Our meals were all excellant from french toast for breakfast,
pad thai and parma ham sandwich for lunch and our very fabulous fettucini with truffles. The chef is a star and what a delight to have such high-end variety and tastes with a maitre d that knows how to pamper.

It is very obvious that the owners are connissours of fine food, wine, travel and fine living. The Eugenia is well deserving of their Relais Chateaux status and although a few comments on this site beg to differ we will definitely recommend and return to this little gem the next time we are in Bangkok...we were treated like
royality by every member of the staff and the tranquility being away from crazy Bangkok I think is an asset and not a deterrant.
Thanks for giving us a refreshing colonial side of Bangkok!
