From the outside it looks like a mediocre hotel, but once you step inside, it's a pleasant surprise. From the moment you're served iced teas while checking in, seated on padded benches, you know this isn't an ordinary hotel.
The room is beautifully decorated, and includes a settee/chaise and a kitchen with microwave--though I can't fathom why one would need to use it, given the food choices available in the city. The floors are marble-like and not the most comfortable, though. There is a large half-sized refrigerator/mini-bar which is somewhat noisy. There is also wired internet access. The view is horrible, though--a parking garage and inside some homes.
The hot water in the bathroom is both difficult to control (there is a nearly one minute delayed reaction) and of limited quantity.
Breakfast is somewhat random and of average quality.
There is a travel agent in the lobby who can arrange private or group tours.
The hotel is a short walk down busy soi 1 from Sukhumvit. Note that it is opposite Bumrungrad Hospital, which is apparently an extremely popular tourism hospital. This also means there are a large number of convenience stores and excellent street vendors always nearby, which are patronized by the many local nurses. The elevated train (not a monorail) station Phloen Chit is nearby on Sukhumvit.
Overall, this isn't quite a luxury hotel, though it seems to want to be. Sometimes there's a doorman, and sometimes there's an elevator attendant. Other times, they are missing. The little touches, like fresh fruit delivered to your room sure are welcoming, though.
