I booked this hotel through a well known Asian booking site, because of it's location, good rates, and supposed 4* rating. The location certainly is an excellent, central base for exploring Chiang Mai, but the hotel leaves something to be desired. The rooms were barely at the level of an average, older Holiday Inn in the U.S., and the service was indifferent at best. The pool is completely in the shade most of the day, so it ends up being cold and undesireable to use unless the weather is unusually hot for Chiang Mai. The breakfast buffet was adequate. Fortunately, I had only paid something like $40/night complete for this, so it wasn't too bad for that price. I loved Chiang Mai so much, though that I extended my stay. The folks at the front desk actually ended up doing me a favor by refusing to give me anything close to my original rate for 2 extra days (and no way was this place worth $75/nt). So, I moved to a nearby brand new boutique hotel on Loi Kroh road that I had passed on the way to the night market called the Raming Lodge, which was MUCH nicer for even less than my original $40/nt rate.
