“Lovely boutique hotel”

Lanna Mantra

Jan 19, 2008

This is a lovely little boutique hotel, about 10-15 minutes away from the city of Chiang Mai. The location is peaceful and quiet and the rooms comfortable, very clean and nicely furnished. We had a room on the ground floor overlooking the river which was beautiful and well worth the additional cost (which wasn't much). The owner made the effort to come and greet us at breakfast one morning, and she was lovely, as were her staff.

We found being out of town no problem at all. As long as you have the hotel's address (in Thai), and a vague idea of where you're going, transport via taxi or tuk tuk is fine.

The only negatives were that the food was very average (as others have stated), so we didn't eat here except for breakfast. A bit disappointing as it's such a lovely setting and we would have been happy to spend more time just relaxing at the hotel if the food was of a better standard. Also, the walls are very thin! We heard other guests arguing and banging doors etc at all hours of the day and night which was very unpleasant.

That said, we enjoyed our time here and would stay again - hopefully without the other inconsiderate guests!

“Nice Quiet Hotel”

This hotwl is set on the banks of the River Ping and is about 7-10 minute drive away (150Baht/€3) from the centre of Chiang Mai, it is perfect for getting away from the hussle and bussle of Chiang Mai and great for simply relaxing, rooms were spacious and clean and the restaurant served nice Thai Food at very inexpensive prices, however, i am still trying to get used to cold fried eggs in the morning.

Staff were more than helpful and willing to organise tours and taxis for you.

I would highly recommend this boutique hotel

“Great location away from Hustle & bustle of Town”

Lanna Mantra

After viewing Web site, initial impression was that Hotel appeared smaller. The rooms were large and decor was typical Northern Thai. Beautiful Gardens lovingly attended to,nice small swimming pool, and spotless all around. (but we did find a Frog in our bathroom, soon removed)
Had room with connection door to next room and we were able to hear all conversations they had, and other noises!!
Location was excellent for its isolation from Noise of Town, but return journeys from town were troublesome because of lack of knowledgeable transport. Plenty of TukTuks, but not suitable for long distance (15mins) when you have a lady with you who feels the Chill of Northern Thailand.
Had dinner one evening in nearby restaurant "Le Crystal"...very special (expensive) and free transportation. The following evening after a long Day, had Dinner in Lanna Mantra...... was just as good as "Le Crystal"..or suited our needs after the long Day we had. Stayed in on other night and Dinner again was superb.
The Proprietor and Her team were Excellent, in their attitude and Service; gave us a gift photo on our departure.

“Relaxing river retreat”

This visit did not start well! We were picked up at the Amari Rincome in Chiang Mai to transfer to the Lanna Mantra which we had booked months ago, only to be told that our room was not available and they had booked us into another hotel for one night! We were quite dissappointed having already stayed in town and wanting to get out...hence the choice of L.M. but I must say after having had three mix-ups on this trip with hotels- the other two being 5 star Singapore hotels (Booked through a travel agent!!!)- the staff and Managemnet at the L.M. could not have been more apologetic and they compensated with a dinner, a stunning flower arrangement, transfers and an improptu tour which took in areas not often seen by tourists.
If you are looking for a great position on the river (take mosquito repellant!), clean rooms (we had deluxe room) with huge balconies i.e. grand views, equipped with day bed- this is for you. It is not a sophistatcated place and at times communication is a little difficult but is compensated by the willingness and friendliness of the staff. Best was that they arranged a car for us for a day, which we took to Wat Doi Suthiep and then onto Mae Rim and had lunch at the Four Seasons. A great way to see other parts of the region. But when it comes to value for money- this is it!

“Wonderful”

Lanna Mantra

Sep 13, 2007

My wife and myself had 4 wonderful days at the hotel. As described on the net, the hotel was peaceful, clean and colorful. We were given a 2nd floor room facing the pool and river and it was beautifully laid out with lanna kind furniture and spacious.

The staff spoke good english and were friendly and helpful, and help us with additional tours without problems. The only downside was the breakfast which was so so only, but food at its resturant was reasonably priced and without compliants.

Though it was about 15 min to the city and night market, we managed to get a taxi (No33) and arranged nightly 2 way transfers for 240baht.

All things said Lanna Mantra was fantistic and I would certainly recommend to anyone wishing a quiet time away from it all. Well Done!
