It was now the 3th time we stayed at Como, and it will not be our last. The first time I visited Samui was 15 years ago, and the Island changed a lot - not always in the possitive way...
It's still a very beautifull island, but places like Chaweng and Lamai became far too busy for me. Big Buddha beach however kept it's charm. The bungalow operations over there are small scaled - no big swimming pools and things like that. The reason why we prefer Como is that it offers the best value for money on this beach. The bungalows are located in a nice garden, and offer a level of comfort you will not find elsewhere in this price range (DVD players, hair dryers,...). Ok, they could be bigger, but it's not a 5 star resort after all ;-) (if you are looking for this, Saboey might be your thing) The biggest advantage of this place is in my eyes the shape ; a big beachfront for a few bungalows, so the bungalows have a very good seaview or are directly ON the beach. This is these days hard to find in Samui (and nearly impossible in Phuket) The place is family run, and you can always go to the manager if you need advise. They have a very good restaurant and especially the breakfast menu is exceptional good for Thailand.
One negative thing : in summer it is not always possible to swim in front of the resort due to the low tide, you will have to walk a couple of 100 meters to the left. In winter there is no problem.
