“The Old Honeymooners”

The Waterfront Bophut

We stayed at The Waterfront the last week of March for the 3rd stage of our honeymoon to the Far East. We picked this hotel after reading reviews on Trip Advisor. We were not dissappointed with our choice, it is small and intimate, right on the beach which although not the best is still perfect enough to gaze out to sea from. The rooms are spotlessly clean, spacious and have everthing you need in them. A lovely touch was the Happy Honeymoon message on our bed on arrival in flower petals.
The pool although small is perfectly adequate for cooling off in, and the bar is a central meeting area for guests allowing you to be as sociable as you want to be. Breakfast is luxurisly late until 11.00 and at the other end the bar stays open until there is no one there.
Bophut itself is delightful with so many lovely resturants you really will be spoilt for choice and after a delicious meal its only a short stroll back to The Waterfront for a nightcap or two!
Sue and Robin together with their son Michael have a little gem here, and work hard to ensure that guests are happy. The emphasis is very much on the personal touch, their staff too are a credit to them, there was lots of hugs and kisses alround when we were leaving.
If we were to return to Koh Samui we would not hesitate to stay at The Waterfront. It may not be five star but it is superb value for money and was just what we hoped it would be.

“Purely tranquil”

The Waterfront Bophut

A wonderful place to have a well-earned Spring break, the Waterfront at Bophut is the perfect place to rest mind, body and soul. Sue is the most welcoming of hostesses, who clearly believes that the world is a small one, and that many of her guests have lots in common (apart from being intelligent enough to book at their hotel.) With this in mind, the communication between guests was as excellent as the greeting we got when we arrived at the hotel, and between her and Robin we felt that we were truly taken care of.

The rooms are very comfortable and clean, the decor is pretty and thoughtful, and the beds are big and soft. The view of the gardens, beach, sea and Koh Phangan are pure gold, as are the hammocks swinging lazily between swaying palms, the teaky bar in the middle of the grounds, and the small but perfectly formed pool, a good place to cool off after sunbathing on the edge of the beach. After Christmas in Sri Lanka, it was good to be on a quiet, hassle-free beach, with water like a clear blue bath. The tranquility of the hotel and those that smilingly run it is truly superb.

Bophut, like the hotel, is a laid-back, comfortable place, where good food and drink are in abundance, and everyone knows everyone else. We'd recommend Johnny at Armani tailors, the Shack for FABULOUS steak and crab-legs, and Aux Amis, where the Magret de Canard reminded me of being in Bordeaux.

After experiencing the grandeur at Lebua at State Towers in Bangkok (which I would thoroughly recommend any day also) before returning home to Dubai, I feel I can safely say that I happily recommend the Waterfront, although I'm sure Sue and Robin don't need me to confirm how fab it is and they are - I just hope they've got room for us when we want to come back! Thanks Sue and Robin, you're stars x

“Beautiful Relaxing Place”

Myself and my partner stayed here for 7 nights in march this year we are a couple in our late 20's we travel quite a bit and use trip advisor to help make our decisions on where to stay, we red up the reviews on this place and thought it would be nice to go to place where we could relax after moving on here from Patong in Phuket, we wasnt dissapointed Sue and Robin make you feel very welcome as do all the staff oh an not forgeting honey the resort dog (what a cutie)
The rooms are clean and comfortable, with all the facilities ou need (except and Iron so bring one with you if you plan to go here)
The pool area is nice with the pool just big enough to cool off in and the atmosphere of the hotel is very friendly and intimate we got to meet some really nice people.
The only downfall is the beach, the view from the hotel is stunning, but the sand on the beach is very coarse and not very nice to walk on but nice beaches are not to far away,

Bophut is a beautiful little village with some great restaurants The shack is fab as was the happy elephant with fresh sea food on order and villa bianco serving great Italian
We also met a fab tailor who is the the Armani Shop his name is Peter and he located down near the frog and geko very good quality tailoring at a reasonable price.

Hotel is great for a nice relaxing holiday and caters for families and couples

“Quiet and Serene”

The Waterfront Bophut

We booked this place mainly down to the good reviews and also because we'd heard it was a quiet area of Koh Samui. I can tell you that we were not disappointed. The hotel is situated at the end of Fishermans Village which is a is full of places to eat, drink and also shop. The hotel itself consists of 17 bungalow style rooms which open out vitually onto the beach. The rooms are spacious and clean and the flowers around the room each day is a nice touch. The staff are very friendly and Sue and Robin are very accommodating. We found it a very sociable place without been over bearing. The beach is very picturesque but we were a little disappointed that the dead coral in the sea prevented any swimming however swimming areas are only a short walk away. The pool at the hotel is on the small side but is adequate to cool you down.
All in all i would thoroughly recommend this hotel and you won't be disappointed if you stay here. It is also situated on arguably the best beach in Koh Samui.

“A Truly Unbelievable Hotel!”

The Waterfront Bophut

I have to say, I have no idea why the previous reviewer wrote what they did (they were at the hotel at the same time as us). If you want the truth about The Waterfront, read on - and also read all the other rave reviews that this hotel has very deservedly recieved!!

We travel to the island every year, and have stayed at a few hotels dotted around, but love the Fishermans Village. We had seen The Waterfront but not actually stayed there, so thought we would give it a try. I have to say, there was not a single little thing we could find to complain about. The hotel itself is a gorgeous little boutique resort at the quiet end of the Fishermans Village (nice and secluded and private) made up of about 19 rooms/bungalows, all set in perfectly kept gardens and all with fantastic views to the beach and beyond. The staff are all incredible, and as for Robin and Sue, our wonderful hosts, well it was just like visiting family, only without the arguments!! What can I say..... Sue (or Audrey Hepburn as I called her) is the most amazing hostess - she greets everybody by name every day and asks if they need anything - she goes out of her way to make everyone feel at home and introduces all the new guests to the existing ones so everybody knows each other - which is part of the reason for the fantastic friendly atmosphere.

I actually cried when I had to say goodbye to Sue - she and all the staff there (Pim, Raine, Pol among our favourites) are incredible and they run without a doubt the nicest friendliest hotel on the island.

The rooms are lovely, the views are great and the personal touches amazing (we got engaged just before we went out and Sue arranged for tiny little petals to be put on the bed saying congratulations - see picture!!) its the things like this that make you remember a hotel.

The food is great (thanks Cookie!), the pool was great, even though some would consider it a little small, the beach is lovely, not powder fine sand but beautiful nevertheless, and the sea is clean and inviting but it is rocky so it is advisable to wear swimming shoes. Obviously the fact that there are rocks in the sea is nothing to do with The Waterfront - it is the same for all the hotels on this strip of the beach!!

We cannot say how much we enjoyed our holiday - mostly thanks to the guys at this hotel. Anybody reading this, seriously, do yourselves a favour and book up to go there - there is a reason why is number 1 on here you know!!

And anybody that does go - please give Honey the resident 'guard dog' a big hug (and a sausage) from us!!

We will be booking up to stay at the Waterfront again next easter, (even though we have our own house out on the island!!) so any of you guys that were out there the same time as us it would be great to see you back at the bar again for a few changs!!!
