We stayed for 11 nights over the Christmas period, the hotel was decorated with lovely Christmas decorations and really made it feel like Christmas.
the hotel is situated around a laguna with other hotels dotted around the Laguna the Laguna hotel is right on the beach front, we were given a second floor room but did not like it as we prefer to be on the ground floor as we have 3 children, we were moved straight away and were so pleased we did as when we opend our pation window the boys could play on the grass area right outside our room.
The hotel is very much open planned which is lovely as you feel you are close to nature. The breakfast was ample with a large variety to choose from, an every morning Anna the baby elephant would come down and meet you at the breakfast area where you could feed her some bananas and the kids get to ride her.
The room we had was ideal for us all, we got a double bed and a single bed and in the window area you had room for 2 roll our beds, the bathroom had a sunken bath and lovely toileteries. No carpet on the floor which was fine as you did not have to worry dirty feet.
The hotel as you'd expect was quite expensive to eat and drink but what we did was to walk along the beach front and eat in the local bars, we came across some friendly staff and had some great meals at a fraction of the hotel prices.
They had a kids club, and also 2 nights a week they had a meal and a movie night for the kids the staff played well with the children and they enjoyed going to it.
We went on one trip to "James Bond Ïsland, we did want to go on Boxing Day but it was full up, so best to make sure you plan your trip in advance, we booked the boat trip through the hotel and it was well organized, however when we got to James Bond Island it was very busy and crowded and a lot of people trying to get you to buy things it smelt a bit too as their were some toilets near the beach I think its over hyped the trip, but as our son is into James Bond we felt it was worth it to say we had been.
You can get a boat trip around the Laguna for free and there is a shopping area where you can get some snacks, suncream, gifts and a few restauraunts, also a medical centre which we had to visit and the service we received was excellent, I would recommend taking out holiday insurance especially with kids as you never know when anything will happen.
What we also liked was on christmas day a local man conducts a Christmas service he has been doing this for a number of years, it was lovely and the kids got to light some candles, afterwards we had mince pies and the kids got a present from Santa. However we were very disappointed with our Christmas meal we ate at the Hotel and it was over priced and not very nice.
We did want to go again but have since found out that they do not allow 5 in one room anymore which is a shame as we can't afford to take out 2 rooms.
