My wife and I decided on this hotel primarily based on price as we planned to spend a small fortune on dental work in Patong. The room cost us about AUD50 per night and included a buffet breakfast. The 4 th floor room was very clean and comfortable with a view of the pool area (there is a smaller pool on the other side of the main building). We didn't eat on the hotel restaurant as there were too many options within a 5 minute walk. Walk out the front of the hotel and turn left and you'll find 7 small local eateries. All served good food and cold beer at very reasonable prices - our favourite was the second last eatery (the Twins). The lady running that place looked after my wife, who was having some major dental work done, with specially prepared meals at no extra charge. Turn right and there are a couple of 7-11 type shops that sold pretty much everything you'd need at fair prices.

We found Karon beach to be liberally littered with all sorts of rubbish and we spent a lot more time at Kata beach (about a 10 min walk away). Plenty of local dogs about looking for new owners - a couple of them would walk up the beach with us every morning. The Karon and Kata beach areas are much quieter than the frantic pace in Patong and is suited to couples/families.

Taxis and Tuk-Tuks cost around 400 Baht each way from Karon to Patong and we found it was cheaper to hire a car at around 600 Baht a day for a 7+ day hire and you then have the freedom to explore the rest of the island.

I would recommend the Andaman Seaview Hotel as a comfortable place to stay and a good base for getting out and about.

The hotel is clean, comfortable, and well run, with great service levels, even taking into consideration the language barrier that appears to exist throughout Phuket. Karon / Kata is a good area for visitors who aren't just in Phuket for the lights, noise, and drunkeness of Patong, so I wouldn't recommend it for young singles or the party set. Plenty of places for eating, enjoying a drink or ten, and shopping nearby, but at this time of the year the beach is not as it appears in brochure photographs, because of the windy conditions. We also did many "touristy" things such as Simon Cabaret, Fantasea, day trip to Khai Island, Phuket Zoo etc. etc., and enjoyed ourselves immensely. A visit to the Patong market at the rear of the Holiday Inn is a must, as well as seeing Bangla Road in full swing at night.

My new wife and myself booked the Andamen for our honeymoon and were very pleased at our room (409). We had upgraded to a deluxe room, which had a seperate lounge, very large bathroom amd four poster bed. The room over looked the pool area and had a good view of the beach. It is definately 4 star plus. The staff are very friendly and nothing is to much trouble. Karon centre took 5 mins to walk and just to the side of the access road to the hotel are 4 quite shabby looking restaurants. Don't be put off. The food in these restaurants is excellent and the prices are great. you can go mad and have lobster or king tiger prawns but the prices are still very low compared with England.
You will find lots of places in Kata offering laundry services. We had all our clothes washed, ironed and packed the day before we returned and two suitcases fill cost less than £10, so no washing when we arrived home. We will be returning next April.

We spent 7 nights at the Andaman Seaview at Karon Beach in March after 3 nights in Bangkok. Having been recommended to go to Karon as a resort, we chose this hotel based on the favourable reviews seen on Tripadvisor. We weren't disappointed.

We were greeted on arrival by helpful staff and a much appreciated glass of juice and a cold towel, before being shown to our room. The luggage followed shortly. Our room was a superior room on the ground floor, which meant we had a small terrace next to the children's pool. The room was spacious with a double bed and a single bed, tv (with many cable channels), large wardrobe (including free safe), mini-bar (expensive compared with local shops) and tea and coffee facilities. The hotel also provide two complimentary bottles of water per day. The bathroom was also spacious including bath and separate shower. Hotel also provides a beach bag with towels (changed daily) which is a nice touch.

Breakfast was excellent and included many choices of food. We did not eat dinner in the hotel as there are many restaurants in Karon and Kata to try, but we did use room service for lunch a few times (as we had a room with a terrace). This was ok, but the food wasn't very warm on a couple of occasions and the waiters were not as pleasant as the rest of the hotel staff. Restaurants: we liked Old Siam (Thai food only) and Karon Cafe in Karon and Two Chefs in Kata. Make sure you have a cocktail at Mom Tri's Boathouse in Kata as it is right on the beach and is a great place to watch the sunset (also half-price cocktails between 1700 and 1900)!

The hotel has two nice freshwater pools and other facilities include a spa, a gym and internet access.

Overall, we would certainly recommend the Andaman Seaview as a hotel to stay in at Karon Beach!

P.S. We can also recommend the tours to the Phi-Phi Islands and James Bond Island as these are great days out.
