Situated at the southern end (Patong end) of Kamala beach this little resort is on the beach with a small stream and a footpath to cross before getting to the sea. The stream is dirty and locals on small motor bikes run up and down the footpath. We booked the upstairs beachfront unit with balcony and were not disappointed. We had uninterrupted views of the beach and out to sea. Quiet and relaxing. The room was functional with small kitchen, microwave, crockery and cutlery. TV, phone, double bed (hard as they all are in Thailand) and two wooden chairs and small table. (Would be better with soft chairs.) The balcony had four plastic chairs and two tables. The food in the Restaurant was good but the dining area opens onto the busy road so we preferred to eat at a beachside place of which there are plenty. Two of us could have a very nice dinner meal for under 600 TBH. including a beer or two! The swimming pool is smallish and has salt water which to my way of thinking is a pity as there is plenty of salt water 50 meters away. The only downside to Kamala Dreams Resort was the horrible smell coming from the sewage system at the bottom of the stairs inside the resort and then after it rained the smell came up the drain pipe in the shower and caused the apartment to stink. We put a wet towel over the drain grill to stop the smell at night. This occurred on our last night after heavy rain and the owner was not onsite the morning we left so I could not ask if this problem is long term or can be fixed. The air conditioning unit is above the bed. The resort does not have it’s own beach chairs so you have to walk 100 meters and hire a couple from the nearby resort for 300 THB per day. Patong town is 20 minutes away by Tuk Tuk (300 THB each way). Over all – good value for 6 nights and 17,340 THB including tax, bed & breakfast.
