“Lovely relaxing stay...”

Andaman Seaview Resort

Apr 22, 2008

We have just returned from a trip to Thailand starting off in the hustle and bustle of Bangkok. When we arrived at the Anderman we were initially a bit surprised as the hotel did not look like the pictures we had seen on the internet - be careful as there are 2 Anderman Seaview Hotels in Phuket one is located on Karon Beach and this one is located on Bang-tao Beach! Anyway we gave it a chance an we are soo glad we did because it was one of the best hotels we stayed in during our trip to Thailand and we stayed in 8 all together!!! The accommodation is clean, spacious and relaxing.

The staff are what made our stay so special - they were attentive and extremely helpful especially hotel manager Nathan, Poy and both Jab's ;). They were all so friendly and when you are so far away from home it is nice to have people that are interested in you and your needs. The beach is literally 2 mins away from the hotel which is great - it is quite and clean. The only down side about staying here is the distance from Patong (cost about 400THB in taxi) - if you are into partying the night away stay closer to that area. It suited us as we were travelling to different parts of Thailand anyway.

Overall it was a lovely budget accommodation with that special personal touch.

“Great budget accomodation”

Andaman Seaview Resort

4 of 5 stars
Australia
Mar 21, 2008

On our last day of a 4 nights stay at this hotel. It is a budget hotel with a swimming pool and a sandy volleyball court across the road and small lane to the Bangtao beach. The distance to the beach is considerably less than that we experienced in many large upmarket sprawling beachfront resort. We started off reserving 2 rooms but on seeing the large room and 2 large beds, decided we only needed 1 room for ourselves and our 2 children. The manager, Nathan, was very accomodating. The service and cleaning was excellent. The place was low key and anything we wanted was not too much trouble. Breakfast is served at the restaurant next door - basic stuff but enough for our needs. The staff even remember each of our choices. The beach is nice and sandy with a long slope. The big upmarket resorts are just further along the coast. We spent half a day on the beach paying for a couple of beach chair. Not too many vendors hassling us and there were a no of restaurants on the beach (and the occasional ice cream person walking up and down). Eating at one of the restaurant watching the beautiful sunset is quite memorable. If you want excitement and noise, then this is not the place for you. However for a quiet family holiday, the place is great.

“Wonderful poolside hotel”

My family and I stayed at the Andaman Seaview in September, we booked it online for a very good price and everything was ready for us when we checked in.
The room was fabulous, big and roomy with a big bathroom, comfy beds and a nice (but small) balcony. The cleaning was exemplary and we were able to get a baby cot without extra cost.
The pool was definitely the best part, the main pool area had a good setup on platforms and parts of the pool were shaded. The food was also good in the hotel.
Drawbacks: its a couple of min walk +crossing a busy road to get to the beach. If you want to go into the larger Patong then the taxi's have a fixed price- that is quite expensive at 400baht each way. Karon beach town isn't very exciting as towns go but there is the usual shopping and a couple of nice restaurants.

“Good value for money!”

Andaman Seaview Resort

A very nice hotel a few steps from the lovely 8km long Bangtao beach.

The rooms are big, have two huge beds (180cm), a balcony and basic furniture (closets, table, tv, chairs etc.). We found it to be very good value for the money. No luxury, but no complaints either. You get beach towels, and cleaning was good otherwise, too.

It has a small, beautiful new pool, but as the beautiful beach is only about 50 meters from the hotel, we didn't use the pool.

They can't answer any questions at the reception (e.g. we needed to get more money, either a bank, ATM or money exchange -- they did not know the nearest, but we figured out ourselves that the Best Western hotel right across the street propably has a money exchange desk, and they did).

Service at breakfast is occationally SLOW; be prepared to ask for you pancake several times. (It really depends on who is working). Basic breakfast, no suprises. Instant coffee.

The beach is really lovely, not too crowded (except at two or three spots in front of the biggest hotels) but basic services can be found, and there is really space on the beach - you can find a spot where no one is near ;-). Large areas are under construction, so in the coming years this beach will propably get busier, too.

We stayed 9 days at this hotel and this beach, and I would go back!

“Very friendly, spacious hotel”

Andaman Seaview Resort

4 of 5 stars
Sydney, Australia
Oct 9, 2007

We enjoyed our 7 nights at this hotel. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. It was great value for money.
The location was very good, opposite the beach, and right in between Kata's shops and Karon's shopping area (Karon's shopping areas was further, Kata was very close!). To get to Kata it was a short walk up a little hill; We didn't mind this at all.
The rooms were clean and large (not the cleanest I've been in, but very clean). What you see on the website is what you get. There are 2 pools and lot's of open space. We really enjoyed the breakfasts, they have someone to cook eggs anyway you like every morning and they also rotate the breakfast dishes every day.

Out the front are 5 little restaurants grouped close together, we liked Halle-Hallo and the one to it's right when looking in from the street the best. Also, we recommend The Indian restaurant near the bottom of the hill on the right hand side (the otherside of the hill you walk up from the hotel) although it wasn't cheap by Thailand prices.

There are a couple of things which stopped this from being the perfect hotel. 1. We checked out Marina Phuket's rooms while we were there and they were amazing for not too much extra with there low season promotion, also just like in the web photos. 2. The shower recess could have been cleaner, there was mould/discolouration of the putty between the tiles. 3. One morning (only 1) we were seated away from the main area at breakfast and it was hard to get the attention of waiters to order tea.
If we can't afford Marina Phuket, we'll still be very happyto go back to Andaman Seaview Resort .
