The Sunway is a liitle out of the action but taxis are cheap about $2 to the old quarter. It was clean with a great shower, breakfast had a good selection. Air con in the room was a little noisy. The staff were
very friendly and efficient. Corner shop just outside great for water etc and laundry! Little bar next door for local flavour sitting out on
a tiny chair watching the traffic.

The Sunway Hotel is a functional four star hotel which has all the facilities necessary for a comfortable stay. The staff are very friendly and helpful and breakfast was quite acceptable. The hotel is not right in the centre, but it is only a ten/fifteen minute walk though bustling streets, which we enjoyed (especially early in the morning when Hanoians are all out doing their excercises!). The one taxi we did get was not sure of the location of the hotel so it is worth taking a brochure or an envelope with the address on it.

The hotel is not ideally located; albeit cab rides are reasonably cheap. We had upgraded to the club floor and found the room spacious enough with nice touches such as fresh fruit in the room. We had great views of the city from this high rise location. The 'bathroom' had a shower only, great for us as we prefer a big shower cubicle. Everything was clean and working and the staff welcoming. Central areas where clean but there was little happenning. Despite other reviews, we found the breakfast extremely dull and the food dry and tasteless. In fact we didn't bother with going down for breakfast after the first day. The hotel is more suited to business travellers than leisure. Wouldn't stay there again as there are better, more centrally located hotels around the lake area. Top tip: taxi drivers don't know this hotel too well and after getting lost on our first few trips back, we decided to memorise our own route and direct the driver.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Sunway. Clean, big rooms with great bathrooms. They even had this cool control panel by the bed which allows you to do everything (alarm, privacy, control temp, lights, etc.) without getting up! The service at the hotel was great and people there were happy to help whenever we asked for something. They really won me over when found they had placed the world cup schedule on the desk of our room. Our rate included breakfast which was really nicely presented and had a ton of good food options.


A word about the location: the sunway is not in the old quarter. Our typical cab fair was about 24k Dong (~<$2) so it wasn't a huge deal. It does take 10 min to walk to the nearest ATM so get your money while your out for the day.
