“Close to the airport”

Moevenpick Hotel Saigon

I organized an event at this hotel and stayed here on 2 occasions. The main reason why I decided to hold the event at this hotel was because the catering staff provided excellent service. During the event, I found out that the food is simply delicious! Everyone loved it. The breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet selections are amazing. Rooms are average, typical hotel rooms. The Q salon inside the hotel is great, very professional with good spa and massage services. Location-wise, it's great if you want to avoid the main city area, or want to be close to the airport. It's bad if you do want to go to the city area, it takes at least 15-20 minutes. The shuttle service to the city was useless since it only runs once an hour and the last service from the city is around 8pm.

“No more shuttle bus downtown and massive refurbishment much much needed…”

… To reach international standards.
At 133 USD all inclusive for a premium deluxe and well over 200 for a continental club deluxe, this place is no budget option and, to our opinion, is somewhere on top of the medium, and bottom of the luxury range. We experienced those 2 types of room between October 6 and 9 2007.
Its airport proximity location can be a plus for those looking for such, but still, it is only a mere 15 minutes ride away from downtown by any kind of transport.
Of the 8 floors, the 2 highest ones were dedicated to the continental club. While traditional check-in and out happened at the main lobby on ground floor, continental customers did it quietly directly on 7th floor.
The 2 rooms were AB-SO-LUTE-LY identical, beside a few minor differences. The bathroom was slightly larger upstairs with the same amenities, but included an extra weight-machine, convenient for big luggage carriers like us, and elegant yucatas instead of basic bathrobes found downstairs. From the bar side, the continental offered good brewed coffee that went with the coffee machine while downstairs, there were only instant coffees. And finally, the evening turn down service provided a box of 4 delicacies vs. 1 lonely chocolate chip. Not really big deal as you can see.

Late check-out at 1600 came compulsory, no need to ask, with any continental club stay, as long with in lounge same floor breakfast. Same as “business floor” one might find usually around the globe. No more, but no less. Of course, in-room broadband internet by RJ45 in all our rooms, and wireless at the lounge. The breakfast buffet was ok.

On the bad side, we found the room to be not luxurious at all for such claimed “luxury” hotel. In both rooms, the curtains only slided after a fierce fight and they were not thick enough for a blind night, so every day at 0545, daytime for everyone. There was also a very inconvenient all-in-one box power control system on ONE night table. This means when the other side of the bed needed to turn, on or off, his/her bed light, he/she must come across to do so on the box, situated on the opposite side. Also in the middle of the night, there was no way one can light the bathroom, before he/she could reach the box in the dark and hit the right button among the many tiny tiny ones. Strangely, all electric plugs are UK shape, so we could not power any of our machines until we asked for a multi plug converser. No magnetic room key, so only drop and collect it at the reception, pretty inconvenient if you are more than 1 and have different schedules.

Well, very good service in very old rooms, at no bargain price.

And good news for all : conveniently, the departure airport tax from TAN SON NHUT is now included to your air ticket. At last.

“Nice Hotel but not 5 star”

Moevenpick Hotel Saigon

Apr 18, 2007

I stayed here for 3 nights by myself because I wanted the safety of a large hotel. Unfortunately, I was immediately shocked by the moldy bathtub tiles! The tub and the rest of the bathroom was clean so I didn't complain to the management. Besides that the room was also very neat and clean and I had a view of the poolside. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room service staff and maids were friendly too! Every evening, you're greeted with a small, nicely wrapped piece of chocolate on your bed.
The Spa at the hotel was beautifully furnished with the typical dark wood and serene atmosphere. The prices were very competitive and reasonable. I would definitely stay there again just for the spa experience. I recommend the massages!! Amazing!!
The breakfast buffet was superb with dishes for Western and Eastern palates. Very delicious!!
As a bonus, because the hotel is about 20 minutes from the city centre (10minutes from the airport), the hotel offers a convenient FREE shuttle service to a shopping centre near Ben Thang market, the Opera House, etc. When you coming from the hotel, just tell the driver where exactly you want to be dropped off along the route and he'll gladly do it.
I enjoyed my stay!

“never stay in deluxe room”

Moevenpick Hotel Saigon

NEVER STAY IN DELUXE ROOMS in this hotel.
Before arriving in this hotel, I&my wife spend 4nights in NHA TRANG. We had a very happy tours in that city. Beautiful beach, nice foods etc. After staying in NHA TRANG we flied to HOCHIMINH city. As our flight for my home Seoul departures at 1:20 a.m. we decided to stay in this hotel to take a rest only 9hours. After checking in, we were disappointed. The room was smell, too small, no ventilation system, clicking bed, very bad view. We wanted to change room 3times. But another room was same.
So I wanted high floor room. But hotel said that deluxe room is located 2&3 only. I think the Deluxe room is like a back packers hostel. Moreover they deposit 50 USD from my credit card without any notice. My credit card company inform me by mobile phone every using. So I appealed to hotel WHY do you deposit from my credit card without any notice. After my appealing they applozagied but they did not cancel. In ordinary case hotel deposit only 1dollar from credit card whrther the card is corrcct or not. I cannot understand all the cases.
I think we was treated like a bugglar.

“Value for money hotel”

Moevenpick Hotel Saigon

Jan 26, 2007

A very useful hotel which is close to the airport (and the airport itself is very close to the center of the city (by most airport standards). The hotel is value for money.

While the hotel is getting a bit dated the facilities are good and restaurants ample.

If there is a negative it is that it is on a fairly characterless and busy street. Although not far from the downtown area, the road to the center can be very packed which means time to drive to the center takes a long time except after about 8.00pm or early morning.
