Stayed for 2 nights at the end of a super tour through Vietnam.
This hotel is in the wrong location for the main sightseeing as it can take up to 1 hour to travel 1 mile at peak times. The hotel majors on tourists and at breakfast and early evening its chaos.
True the lifts are a nightmare - can take up to 8 mins waiting.
The rooms, though clean, are rather basic. The breakfast was poor - constantly running out of supplies and queuing for tea/coffee. In our opinion this hotel is best avoided.

The first impression is not good the hotel entrance is surrounded by lots of dirty shops. Reception is on the fourth floor which you get to by lift eventually. There are four lifts which service 25 floors and over 400 rooms. However if there is a wedding one of the lifts will be taken out of general use and used soley for the wedding party. You could wait at least 20 minutes to get into a lift and get to the floor that you want. This could take longer if you get out on the wrong floor. You have to use your key card in the lift and these do not always work.

The room was clean. Breakfast was good but if you want dinner and happen to stay on a Saturday or Sunday it seems that the whole of Ho Chi Minh comes to use the restaurant and you just cannot get in.

The area shopping round the hotel is very dirty and we saw several rats (not in the hotel). The pool is very tiny and was quite grubby. The walls are thin and you can hear your neighbours talking.

We stayed at this hotel (Executive Floor) in June 2007. Overall everything was great: huge spread of breakfast, free shuttle bus to District 1 and airport, free access to lounge with all day drinks and snacks, spacious and clean room, free 2pcs laundry, and friendly staffs in the lounge reception. We also loved the An Duong Plaza adjacent to the hotel for its mini market and cheap souvenirs.

But we encountered a problem with the staff in ground floor who happened to manage our shuttle bus to the airport. He insisted that he'd never received our name in the booking list. We paid more to stay in the Executive Floor but he treated us like we were the regular guests and seemed not to believe that we checked in and checked out from the lounge in the 24th Fl. He somehow a bit rude. But later on he finally managed to find our name and asked the shuttle bus to take us to the airport, but it was almost 20 mins late from our booking time.


Liked: Everything including the Plaza attached.
Disliked: The ground floor staff (in black uniform) who almost ruined our great perception of this hotel.

- The size of a 5*****
- The dining of a 4****
- The rooms of a 3***
- The location of a 2**
- The service of a mini-hotel

The first impression was not too good : the lobby is small and the hotel entrance is surrounded by lots of dirty shops. Add to this there is nothing around the hotel to see or even have a proper drink and you get the reason of my location rating above.

But here comes your biggest challenge : the staff. They are not bad people but do not expect them to help you except to give you a key or the invoice. Their English allow you to experience the repeating method - which will fail and force you to end up writing what you need.... Their behaviors make you feel not welcome ; just like if you were disturbing them from looking the motorcycle passing by !

The room was clean ; nothing special to mention apart the design. Hopefully the designer stopped hospitality projects afterwards. The rooms are the second you start to think the hotel is overpriced.

Dining was fine ; even though we did not try the French restaurant. Room service was correct but again the staff makes you feel you should not call again or require any extra services.

To conclude, staying there is in my opinion a mistake ; you can get better value for 30% of the price ; at easier location and genuinely staffed.
