“Comfortable stay if you can afford it”

I stayed in this hotel for nearly two weeks in April 2007. Overall, very good stay. Although the service can be spotty, most of the staff are very well trained. Mr. Imram at the Chit Chat deli provides fast, efficient, and friendly service while one of the concierges was gruff, unfriendly, and incompetent. For the most part though, friendly staff who get the job done. The food is excellent, albeit very expensive. Dinner and breakfast buffets are great with a wide selection of international dishes, salads, and desserts. Rooms are clean; one small complaint is all the towels are soft as sandpaper. . .clean and fresh, just very rough. Contrary to a previous poster, I found the security very reassuring, not stifling. In Bangladesh, it's nice to have the extra security staff around. With only a few adjustments, this hotel could really be world class. Larger TVs, softer towels, and consistent professional service would make it perfect. All things considered, a positive experience at a fine hotel.

“newest, best & most expensive hotel in Dhaka”

I stayed in this hotel with a business companion for the best part of three weeks in Jan/Feb 2007. Firstly the hotel is brand new, very clean, has friendly & attentive staff who speak good english for the most part, and is located reasonably close the the airport on a main highway.

The water garden is however, very expensive in terms of eating in the restaurant, and just for food in general. There is a small newsagent type shop on the site, which also sells counterfeit dvds along with other discount snacks and nick nacs...

The lobby is very impressive with a lovely ambience and amble seating. There is also a medium sized fitness centre in the hotel which while not overly impressive, is rarely busy.

The guest rooms are very clean, bright and new. The large TV has about ten english speaking channels including sky news, bbc world, and espn for live sports. The bed is very comfortable and the climate control system works a dream! The rooms also have free internet access via an network cable which u attach your pc to. I used the internet everyday, and ialthough the speed was not great, i was able to easily browse, check email etc..

So overall i hav no real complaints about the hotel apart from the excessive cost of the food, and the fact that there was one power cut during my stay. Easily the best hotel in Dhaka, if not the most expensive...

“most disappointing”

Radisson Water Garden Hotel Dhaka

1 of 5 stars
gurgaon
Mar 20, 2007

stayed at the hotel for two nights over the 26th and 27th of february.had booked a club level room and therefore expected a better than normal level of service. The experience however was terrible. apparently there was some repair work on the room just above the one i was alloted ,therefore all night -both nights -there were pounding and screeching sounds coming from the roof of my room! when i finally complained at midnight on the second night the noise stopped only to start again at 5 a.m. !!At the coffee shop when I asked for a beer i drew a blank-after 10 minutes when I reminded the steward about the beer he apologised to say it had run out and he had specially requested for it to be fetched from another restaurant. The only place that beer did finally appear was on my bill!!The club lounge serves a breakfast that is guaranteed to ruin even the healthiest of appetites and the service at the lounge makes you want to scream for attention. All in all a very disappointing experience .

“Good service or not?”

Radisson Water Garden Hotel Dhaka

Mar 8, 2007
3/5 found this review helpful

The hotel is unquestionably one of the nicer ones in Dhaka. My concern is the overwhelming security in the hotel. I think it may be that way partially because the hotel feels that it is good service, and partially because the local culture loves to stare at foreigners.

I walked around the outdoor pool behind the hotel one evening with a business associate, and the security guard fell in right behind us maybe 20 feet behind. Every time we changed directions, he did too. It was unnerving.

Also when you get on or off the hotel elevator, there is a person nearby waiting and watching that occasionally sees fit to mumble into his radio and sometimes jots down a note. To me this is overwhelming.

A jeweler that came to drop off a purchase was stopped at the lobby because he had a women with him, and was hassled. The woman was made to leave.

You must make the decision what level of security you feel comfortable with. On my next visit I will avoid this hotel, despite the nice rooms and good food.

“an oasis of calm”

Radisson Water Garden Hotel Dhaka

Recently stayed 3 nights at the Radisson in Dhaka on a business trip. The hotel still feels brand new. The lobby is modern and inviting, the service is very professional and the breakfast buffet, which included fresh papaya, watermelon and pineapple in addition to pancakes, french toast and waffles is a relaxing way to start a hectic day.

The security at the hotel is top notch, including a metal detector at the front door and bomb sweeps for all cars entering the parking lot. The location is very near to the airport, on a main road.

The rooms are very clean, hot water was plentiful and there is a pretty good selection of tv channels in english.
