“loved the place”

The Pavilion

Jun 27, 2008

What a wonderful place to stay. So refreshing after a week in basic hotels. This place even had fly wire on the windows so we were able to open windows and have a lovely breeze instead of air conditioning. The staff were all extremely friendy and answer all our questions that we asked. It was so nice to come back of an evening and sit in this little oasis instead of in a hotel room..Deffinately a place to recommend next time I will have a room with a plunge room.

“Amazing - especially with a private pool”

The Pavilion

This place is great. Its a stone's throw from the river and the royal palace, and is a real oasis. We would recommend it 100%...

The gardens are beautiful - and very well looked after. They are set around the main pool, but we had paid a little more and got one of the rooms with a private pool.

The room itself was not particularly large (it comfortably accommodated a large four poster bed, but did not have a great deal more in it). It was simply decorated - a little minimalist, but in character with the colonial villa.

Our swimming pool was great - large enough for a bit of swimming, and enormously private. They had cleverly used plants to make sure it was not at all overlooked. It was a real luxury having our own pool - and made it a hotel we will remember for a long time.

Breakfast was simple but excellent. Freshly squeezed passion fruit juice with interesting bread and spreads.

The hotel had wifi (which we did not use) and free internet terminals (which came in useful). Service at the front desk was nothing special - but perfectly good for the simple things we wanted help with.

If you are in Phnom Penh, and are thinking about where to stay, then don't hesitate - just book this place and enjoy...

“Great Value - great staff!”

We stayed at the Pavilion for 3 nights in late May. We chose a private pool room, as this is an affordable luxury at The Pavilion.

We found the staff and management to be extremely helpful. In fact the bent over backwards to accommodate us - and were so friendly.

The pool room is small, and the bed was incredibly hard (this seems to be the flavour in south east asia). The theme of the room is contemporary Khmer. Aesthetically pleasing and very relaxing with its fabuous private pool. Such a treat to be able to swim any time of day or night.

Lush jungle gardens really help dampen the noise of bustling Phnom Penh, and provides even more privacy for the residents.

The Pavilion is a great three star hotel, with some wonderful features. Best described as a unique and enjoyable boutique hotel.

We have imported the spring mattresses from Thailand, but I have indeed chosen the hardest, as I do not like the beds in which one can sink inside soft foam mattresses. Usually people like them....

“Loved the Pavilion”

We stayed at The Pavilion on the 10th to 12th May and it was excellent. It was way beyond what we had expected and I was so glad that I did not disappoint my friends by booking rooms at this exquisite property. Its heaven on earth and I so wish we could have stayed longer. And yes, the property does not arrange for transport, but just walk down the street, or get a tuk-tuk driver to send you to a travel agent. Its not a problem at all. In all, we want to say WELL DONE to the pavilion and its staff. If there was a direct flight from my hometown to Phnom Penh, I would get on a plane right now! that is how good it was.

“Lovely Boutique hotel, great location and clean rooms”

The Pavilion

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. The room that we were allocated was a twin room. The room itself was very basic and rustic but elegantly decorated. However it does provide the following: Safety deposit, TV & mini-fridge. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom is clean and tidy. The check in was quick and easy.

Breakfast is really simple. In fact it is continental style breakfast - bread, butter, preserve, a plate of fresh fruit, fruit juice and Tea and coffee. So if you expect full English breakfast or buffet breakfast then this is not a hotel for you.

The surrounding is fantastic. There are plenty of plants and big beds for you to lounge around the pool. So after a long day sightseeing, it is great to have the pool to cool you down.

Although the restaurant / snack bar is small, however they do provide a variety of good quality food and drink.

The location of this hotel is fantastic. Near the hotel, there are plenty of good quality restaurants and up market shops but still very reasonably priced. I bought a black silk dress back and I cannot stop wearing it. It is fantastic quality!!! It is also near the Royal Pavilion - definitely worth a visit!!! Plenty of photo opportunities here.

Although our hotel was not located near the river front where there are a lot more touristy shops and restaurants, however getting to this area is very convenient and is within walking distance, In fact, we personally find it is a great thing that we are away from the river front as this allows us to have some peace and quiet after a long day of hustle and bustle.

The tuk tuk driver outside the hotel was extremely reasonable priced. From the hotel to the river front it should cost about US$1 or at most $2.

The receptionist in the hotel was very friendly and helpful in answering our queries.

If you are someone that enjoys 5 star hotel amenities, then this is not a hotel for you. However they do provide free internet access via hotel's computer or wireless internet if you did bring your lab top with you.

The only drawback is that: In our room we have to keep our luggage in a stand up position, as sometimes we do see ants walking around. So if you have your luggage left open and lying flat, then you might run the risk of having ants getting into your suitcase. However this can be solved, it you put some insect/mosquito repellent around.

If we are visiting Phnom Penh again, we will definitely come and stay here.
