“Great place”

My wife and I spent 3 nights at the Nazar hotel in October. We were also approached at the Izmir otogar but being a bit skeptical we had a look at a couple of other places. We could have saved our selves the walk as we ended up at at the Nazar and it was really good. We had travelled pretty hard for a few days so booked one of the deluxe rooms with a spacious and immaculately clean bathroom, The pool was great ,the staff were friendly and helpful and most importantly for an Australian they always had a icy cold beer at hand. Selcuk is a great little town and an ideal base to explore Ephusus etc. We will be back.

“Relaxing, wonderful hotel”

Hotel Nazar

Like the previous reviewer, I was waiting at the Izmir Otogar and was touted by Nazar, the hotelier. While a little wary at first, Nazar was very kind and even showed me the Lonely Planet review of the establishment in my guidebook (which also gave positive remarks about the place). An incredibly fantastic experience and the entire family that works there gave superb treatment. Nazar even had the bus stop before the Selcuk otogar and the attendant directed me down a small street to the establishment where his brother-in-law welcomed me. Wonderful, attentive service, they truly want guests to have a pleasant stay. Guests also have the chance to receive an authentic, home-cooked Turkish meal by the family which was very good and reasonable. Breakfast is fantastic (except for the Nescafé - worth paying the extra 2 lira for a Turkish coffee). Rooms are spectacularly clean and charming and fellow travelers were generally very open and friendly and eager to chat. Comfortable beds and pillows and rooms were bright and airy. Free transportation was provided to Ephesus and the center of Selcuk is literally 300 meters away (600 from the otogar). It was a very relaxing, pleasant 3 night stay that I would have loved to extend.

“Friendly people, nice rooms”

We were touted at Izmir otogar by a gentlemen working at the Nazar. We were sceptical at first but investigated anyway to avoid the touts we anticipated in Selcuk. How lucky we were though, the rooms are clean and at a reasonable cost, the people were friendly and helpful and able to give advice and the breakfasts were plentiful. Not sure how to achieve the free ride to Efes/Ephesus as presented to us in the sales patter, but it is only a nice a 30-40 minute walk anyway.

“Best Hotel I Stayed at in Turkey”

Hotel Nazar

My roommates from college and I travelled through Greece and Turkey for a month and stayed at over ten hotels, but Hotel Nazar was by far the best hotel we stayed at. We payed 20 lira for each person (about US$13) and this included a spotlessly clean, recently refurbished room with a spacious bathroom and a delicious breakfast. They also have a beautiful pool and bar outside. The owner Osman was especially friendly and went out of his way to make our trip as enjoyable as possible. He even sat with us after dinner one night to help us plan the rest of our trip in Turkey! Their dinner (an extra 10 lira) prepared by the owner's mother was also probably the best food we had in Turkey. I highly recommend this place to any budget traveler, although I would say that this hotel is easily as good as any mid-range hotel.

“Warm family feeling”

My friend and I recently stayed at Hotel Nazar. This family-owned hotel is immaculate and meals are lovingly prepared by the owner's mother. There's a lovely pool to relax in after a day of exploring the sites of Efes and St. John's Basilica. I had a case of sun poisoning while I was there and the owner's family took such good care of me, I felt like my mom was taking care of me. The hotel is nicely decorated with a lovely rooftop terrace where breakfast and some dinners are served. The hotel is conveniently located near the bus station and the owner is more than happy to pick you up.
