This is the largest aparthotel in the Middle East, and is laid out on a vast scale, with several landscaped swimming pools, fountains, bridges, walkways and plenty of activities, especially for kids. If you are considering it as a timeshare swap, which we did – don’t hesitate. Even if you are simply looking for a hotel, you will get a spacious one-bedroom apartment here for less than the price of a double room at, say, the Sheraton, and if you fill all five beds, you’ve got an even better bargain! The apartments (which are serviced daily) are very well designed and comfortable, though not luxurious – except for the King-size bed which was one of the best we have slept in! The kitchen is adequate, with a microwave but no conventional oven or hob. The TV has only one English-speaking channel (Fox News) and, frankly, you will find yourself in a tiny minority if you are from the UK. This was not a problem for us, especially as the staff (contrary to earlier reports) were invariably friendly and helpful. There is a good health club, a well-stocked supermarket but not a restaurant we can recommend. However, three minutes’ walk from the front door we found Halleluya (Kosher) and Ginger (Oriental) – both of which were good value. A further five minutes will take you to the main drag at North Beach where there are several more alternatives, but none of which stand out. All in all, this is a good place for a winter-sun break, but don’t even think of coming in June – August, when the temperatures can top 45 degrees.
