“An apartment for the price of a room”

Club Hotel Eilat

Feb 12, 2008

This is the largest aparthotel in the Middle East, and is laid out on a vast scale, with several landscaped swimming pools, fountains, bridges, walkways and plenty of activities, especially for kids. If you are considering it as a timeshare swap, which we did – don’t hesitate. Even if you are simply looking for a hotel, you will get a spacious one-bedroom apartment here for less than the price of a double room at, say, the Sheraton, and if you fill all five beds, you’ve got an even better bargain! The apartments (which are serviced daily) are very well designed and comfortable, though not luxurious – except for the King-size bed which was one of the best we have slept in! The kitchen is adequate, with a microwave but no conventional oven or hob. The TV has only one English-speaking channel (Fox News) and, frankly, you will find yourself in a tiny minority if you are from the UK. This was not a problem for us, especially as the staff (contrary to earlier reports) were invariably friendly and helpful. There is a good health club, a well-stocked supermarket but not a restaurant we can recommend. However, three minutes’ walk from the front door we found Halleluya (Kosher) and Ginger (Oriental) – both of which were good value. A further five minutes will take you to the main drag at North Beach where there are several more alternatives, but none of which stand out. All in all, this is a good place for a winter-sun break, but don’t even think of coming in June – August, when the temperatures can top 45 degrees.

“Very large resort--average”

We stayed there for a week. 3 persons in room. Myself, husband and 23 year old daughter. All rooms decorated like cruise ship. Nice furnishings, cute theme. However, hotel for young children. Very loud and noisy. Difficulty sleeping. Children running around halls at all hours of night.
If you want quiet, chose room far away from main lobby.
Main bedroom, king-size bed. Living room, poor bed. Very small cot that pulls out of a drawer. Not adequate for adult sleep. Nice balcony.
Clean, but not spotless. Average accomodations. Adequate, but not excellent. Hotel understaffed at reception area. Always a long line.
Excellent location. Close to beach and shopping. Parking free.

“Great for kids, Israelis and Russians”

We stayed at this resort as part of a timeshare swap. There were 4 of us: my wife, baby and myself + 1 other family member. We were given a room in the Atlantic building which had 1 bedroom, a lounge and a bathroom with 2 doors (1 from the bedroom and 1 from the lounge). Additionally there was a large balcony.

The lounge has a sofa which doubles as a bed but it is not especially comfortable. There was also a single "bed in a box" which unfolds into a narrow uncomfortable bed. Fortunately I had the bedroom and whilst small, it was very comfortable and clean with its own door leading onto the balcony.

The room came with a microwave and fridge. The hotel has a supermarket but there are several (usually cheaper)supermarkets with 2 minutes of the hotel.

The pluses: The hotel has pool after pool and 2 very large shallow pools. The hotel is geared up for kids and there are dozens running around most evenings in the large foyer.
The main shopping centre is directly across the road from the hotel. Although this is no shoppers paradise, we bought things much cheaper than we would get back home.
The balcony was large, protected from the wind and bathed in sun until the late afternoon. Because it was very windy it was great to have it as a refuge. However we were fortunate to have a room overlooking the pool and getting the afternoon sun. Other views are of a car park or the main road.

The minuses: The hotel is a 15 minute walk from the nicest beaches in the developed part of Eilat. The beach across the road is shingle.
The hotel is orientated towards Russians and Israelis. I did not hear one other English speaker in our week there and there was very little information on activities in English which means we may have missed out on things.
The reception area is hugely understaffed and if, as was the case twice when I went there, someone is having an argument with them you can wait 10 mins+ just to ask a simple question.
Most of the pools were shut, presumably becuase it was off-peak. This may also explain the lack of staff at reception.

Overall, our 17 month old baby loved the open spaces in the hotel and she would run around with the other kids at night. The accommodation was fine and the only real complaint I have is the lack of English and the inefficient staff at reception.

My partner and myself stayed at the club hotel initially for two weeks. I can honestly say that the staff were fantastically friendly and helpful!!!!

The room was lovely and the cleaners did a wonderful job. The security guys were brilliant along with the whole staff. There was never a shortage of towels for us at any time!!!

I spent a year in eilat 20 years ago and remembered a little hebrew but all the staff wanted to help me remember the parts of the language i had forgot.

As a result of this helpful, friendly service we decided to stay another 2 weeks

Other guests made us feel so welcome and it felt like i was going home every night.

Anne Simpson & Porl Randall
I honestly say thank you to all the staff for a fantastic holiday and i hope to see them all again soon

“not worth it...”

Having a high rating, one would expect a nice hotel. From the outside, it looks nice enough. great pools..nice cheesy design. Once you have a problem though, then you see their true face. The customer is just about their last priority here. The rooms are dirty with worn down furniture. It's just not worth the price. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere where you'll get a nice clean room with courteous service.
