“A HORRIBLE Hotel”

Reef Hotel

May 12, 2007

This is the worst hotel i've been in in Eilat!!!

The food was horrible, me and my husband got a food poisoning after one dinner!
There is loud music from a near by restaurant starting from 11pm to 2am. When we went to reception the next day to ask for another room (with windows out to the other side of the hotel), they refused and said that we could check out if we wanted, by we would not get any refunds for the rest of the nights we have booked.
There is not tea or coffee available after 8pm. The self-serve bar in the lobby closes at 8pm and one cannnot even get a cup of tea after dinner!

“OK hotel, but loud music at night”

I chose the Reef Hotel because it was one of the few places I could get a room on short notice (1 day ahead of time) in mid-October. (The fact that you have to book directly rather than via Expedia or Hotels.com probably helped me.). Also, I wanted to be near Coral Beach to dive with Aqua Sport, and Aqua Sport turned out to be just a couple of minutes' walk down the beach (through Club Med's lounge chairs).

As others have said, the hotel isn't the classiest in terms of furnishings or decor, but I decided to think of it as having character. My room had a tiny balcony and a view of the sea but unfortunately (being an odd-numbered room, I guess) was also right near the Village bar/restaurant next door, which blasted music until maybe 1:30 am. (I'm pretty sure it didn't go as late at 3:00, even on the weekend, which I think someone else said.) The bed was actually two single beds stuck together. The only all-English TV channel was CNN International, which repeats itself every 30 minutes. The air conditioning worked well, and the shower pressure was great.

The hotel has one computer with free Internet access in the lobby; when I was there, I was able to use it without waiting almost every time. I had my laptop with me, but unfortunately the wireless signal I picked up (from a nearby business?) in my room was too weak to actually connect. (It did connect when I went outside the hotel and sat in the parking lot near the Village.)

The pool area is pleasant. The jacuzzi (up some stairs) has a sign saying it fits 6, but it seemed so small I don't think I'd want to be in it with anyone other than my boyfriend.

The free breakfast buffet is pretty extensive, but most of the items seemed more like lunch food than something I'd want to eat at 7:00 am. What I ate was good. I didn't eat in the restaurant at any other time.

Summary: If you're the kind of person who likes to spend a lot of time in your hotel room, you might be happier elsewhere, but I found the Reef to be generally OK for my needs and not insanely expensive, unlike some. Bring earplugs and you'll be able to get to sleep!

“Avoid This Hotel!!”

The problem here is the noise. The hotel is located next to the "Village" night club that plays ear splitting music until 3:30 AM, making it impossible to sleep. Avoid the rooms on the north side (odd numbered rooms) at all costs. The management is less than friendly and if you complain, don't expect a sympathetic hearing. They know about the problem but do nothing to alert guests.

“Great hotel for divers”

This hotel is in my opinion a solid 3 star hotel. The place is more than comfortable but not luxury. It has a perfect location for anybody looking to scuba dive while in Eilat since it is right on coral beach next to all the dive shops. The breakfast was pretty good. If you want to get into the city they provide you with a voucher which gives you free shuttle service (aprox 1 per hour) into the city though a taxi isn't that expensive either (aprox $5).

“Low quality hotel”

We stayed there for 3 nights, the hotel was relatively cheap but we won't be going back again. The hotel was refurbished somewhere in the late 70s, everything was falling apart. The food was boring and the rooms as well. No entertainment at all. The radio didn't work, there was a hole in the wall, and the condition of the bathtub didn't allow us to have a bath (although they provided bubbles). The pool was OK.
They state it's 4* hotel, but it's hardly 3*.

Wouldn't recommend.
