“Wonderful Stay”

King Solomon Hotel

My husband and I stayed the King Solomon on 2 occasions, both during the high holidays. Our room was beautiful with a wonderful view of the Old City. The hotel was clean & provided excellent kosher service during a holiday time. The onsite synagogue was well attended. The staff was very helpful, going out of their way to accomodate us. We highly recommend this hotel and are looking forward to our next stay in Feb. 2008. Mazal tov, King Solomon!

“much better than older reviews”

We spent three nights at the hotel and despite what we read in earlier reviews, we found it to be clean and well run. The breakfasts were typically Israeli style buffets with an abundant supply of salads, cheeses, rolls and eggs. We also partook of an evening dinner buffet which was excellent. We booked our 'super deluxe room' with a request for a view of the Old City, and that's what we got. It was a huge room with a small terrace and although it cost more than the 'standard' rooms it was well worth the price, especially when compared with more luxurious hotels nearby. The location is perfect, in a lovely neighborhood just a short walk from the Jaffa Gate. The hotel was overbooked with many group tours [as was all of Jerusalem, it semed.] It's best to book through the hotel rather than a third party, but even so I'd advise confirming and re-confiming your reservation.

“Smelly hotel”

King Solomon Hotel

This is DEFINATELY NOT a 5 star hotel, it is unclean and smells horrible( abit of sewage and an old age home). Everything is very old. The staff is unhelpful- they could not even give us advise on any tours in Jerusalem!! The only good thing about the hotel was it's location and we had a good view from our window.

“there are better places to stay”

my family stayed at the king solomon hotel in mid aug 2007. this hotel seems far below some of the others in the area and the price of the room refects that. The rooms cost about half as much if not more than half, than the other hotels in the area. to say that this hotel is dated is an understatement, it is ancient and is in dire need of remodeling. the carpets are dirty and old and the rooms them selves are pooly furnised with icky bed spreads and curtains. a major problem witht he rooms are the motion sensors, the air conditioning and lights and all the electrcity in the rooms are on motion sensors so at night when u lie still the a/c goes off and u need to activate the sensor to cool the room. which leads a to a poor night sleep.
the food was awful, the dinning room was old and in need of remodeling or at least an update. we only had breakfast and even that wasn't good. we walked across the street to get a decent cup of coffee. The best i can say a bout the dinning facilities was that it didn't seem dirty.
the hotel has a pool but we didn't even bother it was small and located ona roof top. with alll the other things to do in jerusalem we skipped the hotels pathetic pool.
the only postive aspect of the hotel was it location. centrally located and walking distance to the old city. Surrounded by cafes and resturants and other fancy hotels that u wish you might be satying at :)
overall this hotel was a low budget hotel that was probably nice in its heyday but those days are long gone. next time i am in jerusalem i am splurgeing on the facny hotel!

“Nice but not spectacular”

I have stayed in many hotels in Jerusalem and the King Solomon is not as nice as some of the others in the immediate area. The rooms and furnishings were a bit dated and the food, while good, was not as spectacular as I have had. However, that being said, the staff was helpful, the lobby spacious, the views outstanding and the location just can not be beat. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it but be aware that it is not quite up to the level of many other neighboring hotels.
