We rented a two-bedroom apartment in the newer building (119 Ben Yehuda) for $110 per night. In February, the rate included high-speed internet but during our stay this didn't always work. Our apartment provided very comfortable accommodations for 2-4, possibly for 6 using the fold-out sofa in the living room though with just one bathroom this might be too many. The kitchenette had refrigerator, microwave, electric kettle, and hotplate, plus enough dishes and silverware for four. Everything was clean and attractive. (Our apartment was in the newer of the two buildings, and I did not see any of the apartments in the older building.) The apartment had a phone and three TVs. Heat and hot water worked well. Despite its location on a busy street, the apartment was very quiet when the windows were closed. We were not sure whether the apartment had air conditioning, an important consideration for those contemplating a summer stay. An English-speaking manager is available on-site or by phone to answer questions, help with problems, or arrange tours.
This is a great place for a longer stay. The central location is a couple of blocks from the beach and on a main street with lots of shops, cafes, and restaurants. Several buses run along the street, providing cheap transportation to most places around Tel Aviv, though many attractions are within easy walking distance. The apartments are three blocks from the Tel Aviv tourist office on Mendele St., which should be an early stop for those visiting for the first time.
