Business serviceThis hotel right outside the Airport is in the middle of a desert. Rooms are very old, staff is always busy doing nothing. I had a business class ticket on Royal Jordanian, and the airline put me up in this room, as my connecting flight was to depart about 18 hours later. I would have presumed that business class travelers would have been given clean rooms.
My room was on the 5th floor, the only view from a small dirty window was of a desert with shrubs and scrap outside. The room had had outdated furniture, no direct dial phones and no internet of any sorts. There were burn marks on the furniture. The only 2 glasses in the room were from the age of world war. The bathroom had rusted fittings. The meals at the hotel were below average as well.

Business serviceThe Alia Hotel is about a mile from the Queen Alia Airport. It is a modern full-service hotel that is perfect for a layover. The rooms are above average and provide the basics for an enjoyable stay. There is a airport shuttle that runs 24 hours and a grill and restaurant.

Business serviceI spent a few months weighing up the pros and cons of staying at the Alia and was very nervous due to some poor reviews.
Our flight was due to arrive at 1am and to depart 7 days later at 10am. Our time in Jordan was split between the Dead Sea and Petra and as we really didn't want to be driving our hire car off to the Dead Sea at 1am I took the plunge and booked it for our first and last nights - and it was perfectly fine!
Ok, so the breakfast was nothing short of appalling but the hotel itself was fine, rooms very clean and comfortable with toiletries and hairdryer, polite staff, varied parade of shops in the lobby, a bar (which strangely has no windows) and the meal we had in the restaurant
on our last night was simply lovely! Courtesy bus was fast and efficient too.
Not sure what the situation was with the pool but it looked closed which I thought was a bit strange with October being peak season?
To get a few hours kip after a late flight in or early flight out then
it does the job nicely.
I was very afraid staying in this hotel after I found all the negative reports on this website. My partners in Jordan told me not to worry, the hotel would be ok.
Having stayed in the hotel for one night, I cannot complain. The room was obviously newly renovated. It made a clean impression. Bath and bed were in good condition.
The staff was helpful and friendly. The shuttle bus from and to the airport was for free. It is the nearest hotel to the airport. The city is 25 km away.
I did not have breakfast, so I cannot judge the kitchen.
The room rate is 70 JD for a single (with service and tax makes a total of 84 JD).
