We had a standard room in the "Pacificique" wing - 2 star. Comfortable room with view over ocean - beautiful, 1 x double bed, 1 x single bed. Large bathroom - shower only. 1 x Australian power point in bathroom, all others 2 prong European. Small microwave & fridge, crockery & cutlery for 2, no room service available in this part of hotel. No internet in room - available in reception. Large pool - towels available from reception. Hotel immediately across road from beach. Bus stop (green line) immediately outside hotel, 200F per trip, tickets from driver. About a 50 minute easy walk to the city centre along the esplanade. Restaurants within walking distance. Bar available in hotel - only open in evenings.

Just returned from staying at the Nouvata in Noumea (Anst Vata). I stayed in Nouvata park wing and had a view over the Bay. Room was clean and neat, not overly luxurious. La Pacifique (budget) wing should be avoided. The other wing may be ok.

If you want some luxuries and be close to the action this is the place. Price - check and decide for yourself, though I would say it is mid range.

Service is good. Swimming pool great. Close to bars and restaurants, and of course across the road from beach.

“A Throughly Enjoyable Stay - With Magnificent Sunsets”

NC Nouvata Park Hotel

We have just arrived back from a 7 night stay. We booked into Nouvata Park (3 star), versus 2 other accomodation blocks at this one property (Le Pacifique (2 star) and Nouvata Hotel (4 star) all surrounding a very large inviting pool. Our room was very comfortable and of an expected standard. Room attendants were excellent, providing us with extra pillows etc and giving of local information. Our only room 'gripe' was the bathroom handbasin waste water was very slow to discharge - a problem apparently not new.

Breakfast at the main restaurant overlooking the pool was a lovely way to start the day - food was great too with a generous selection. Mostly other meals were taken at local eateries (French, Vietnamese etc) along the connecting bays with selected supplies also brought from local supermarkets. Although, by chance, we found our cheapest meal at one of 2 local casino's (within walking distance) for $XFP425 and free coffee. We often found we sought dinner much earlier than others at 5.30 - 6.30 where restaurants were still preparing for evening meals with local's just stepping out to dine at about 8.30 - 9'ish (must be a Kiwi thing)

Anse Vata beach was immediately across the road from our hotel with not many sunlovers bathing at this time of the year, temps were 19 nights to 25 days. We also took a short 5-7 min water taxi ($XFP900 ea rtn) to Duck Island for the day with additional hireage of beach loungers ($XFP500 per day). Local bus service into the city was also outside the hotel, $XFP200 ea way taking you into the central city.

Although a local family member (resident of 25 years) took us about to see historic attractions, new housing subdivisions, indigenous communities, feasted on a bounya (?spelling) (Kanak hangi style meal), flea markets etc etc. Shopping was reasonable. We purchased a string of Tahitian Black Pearls at a very comparable price.

Overall, we found all hotel reception staff to be very attentative and accomodating who made it their business to provide us with any tourist information we sought. We had no problems with our final bill. Noumea is a great place to visit for nothing but a relaxing 'break away' albeit expensive for Kiwi's. There are lots to do if you plan well.

“Just Got back from Noumea”

NC Nouvata Park Hotel

Aug 16, 2007
10/10 found this review helpful

Just got back from 5 nites in Noumea at the Nouvata Park Hotel on Anse Vata. We had a package deal from the airline and were in the Pacific Wing, which is lower standard than the main hotel.
it is being fully renovated and the floor we were on was very smart: new carpets, lights etc The room was quite OK and the bathroom a good size and new fittings.
There was a full size fridge and microwave so we stocked up frm Johnsons Smkt in town and had a couple of meals in the room, with nice view of the pool.

The Pool is really good and kept clean, at night it looks very S pacific with the lights and palm trees. Beakfast was pretty OK, and you can sit out by the pool. Nice croissants, omelettes etc.

We had not been back to Noumea for over 10 years, so were interested to see any changes... Hawaii it is not and peoplecoming for that type of experience and service wil be disappointed. The restaurants are expensive, we knew that before going. A few bottles of rose from the Smkt, some cheeses, cold meat and bread makes a very passable snack.

make sure to check out the pool bar at the Meridien at sundown and watch the parasailing... just amazing stuff.

And take a walk ( not the little train) up the Ouen Toro hill behind the hotel, such fantastic views..

The weather was great, I enjoyed using my limited french, we jogged and walked Anse Vata, the Air Calin flight was lovely..

All in all a well needed break and taste of french Culture in the S pacific... a bientot mes amis !!

“When booking this hotel, check where you are actually staying”

NC Nouvata Park Hotel

Sydney, Australia

My husband and I stayed here for 5 days in early January. Whilst there were some lovely features about this hotel, I was VERY disappointed for numerous reasons.

We booked and paid for, I believed, a room at the Nouvata Park hotel. When we arrived we discovered our room was in the "Le Pacifique wing." Not really a problem until we saw our room. The view of the pool was lovely. (It is an absolutely gorgeous large pool with water trickling like a waterfall into other parts of the pool and palm trees and decking in the middle).

The room however was rather worn/dilapidated. The shower recess was missing tiles and was covered by a mat. The bathroom vanity and cupboard in our room was laminex which was worn in places. The curtain facing the pool was not wide enough to cover the window so we were woken before 5.30 every morning with light streaming through our window. (We're morning people but that was still way too early). The bathroom could have been better cleaned by the cleaning staff.

Both the Nouvata Park hotel and the adjoining Le Pacifique are owned by the same consortium. They share facilities.

The staff were not overtly helpful and twice while we were at reception I heard hotel guests querying hotel bills for accommodation they were presented with, for accommodation they had already paid for. Their "safety deposit box" is leaving your valuables on the counter behind them. I asked where the nearest internet access was and was told right there madam ( a desk about 10 metres away). I paid the money to use it, found it did not work, had this fact confirmed by the same staff member and then had to request a refund which was eventually handed back albeit very reluctantly.

If this had been a little budget place, I would not have minded these issues and would have overlooked them but for what we paid, I expected a lot more.
