Departing from Port Vila we travelled in our transfer bus about 40 minutes north to Havannah Harbour where the beautiful sailing ketch "Coongoola" was moored in the bay.
All Aboard! and we were transferred by dinghy to the boat where we commenced our day tour by motoring out across Havannah Harbour whilst being served morning tea - to disembark at the Turtle Sanctuary on Moso Island. After a short walk along the waterfront we re-boarded from Tranquility Island Dive Base to be fitted out with our snorkelling gear and cruise around to our secluded beach where we would spend the rest of the day.
Everyone on board was delighted by the sight of our own white sand beach lapped by azure water and shaded by cliffs and trees with thatched huts set under the trees for our shelter and lunch. We had the option of either taking the dinghy out to a deeper water reef just offshore or swimming or snorkelling straight off the beach amongst a huge array of fish and other marine life.
Whilst we were busy swimming and snorkelling in the water, our cook was lighting the BBQ and firing up the marinated fillet steaks for us to eat with fresh salads and rolls for lunch. After lunch we had time for a rest, more swimming and another snorkelling session before packing up and heading back to the Coongoola.
Then she hoisted sail and we started back to Havannah Harbour to see if we could find any dolphins to accompany us home. We didn't that day but were told it's very common. We did however, see a giant turtle in the water. Afternoon tea was served on the trip back where we were all sorry to disembark and hop on the buses for our trip back to our hotels in Pt Vila.
A truly unique experience that truly was the highlight of our trip to Vanuatu.
