My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights in May, 2008. We were with a tour group which this hotel seems to caters to. All in all, we had a good stay at this Intercontenental, Compared to the chaos of Cairo, the hotel was a traquil refuge. I had read that the hotel was shabby, but we did not find that to be true. The hotel is located in a busy area of the city (overlooking the Nile) that does not lend itself to stolling through the neighborhood. The traffic is heavy, crossing the streets is difficult, and there are no interesting shops.
There are quite a few restaurant choices in the hotel and the buffet breakfast is excellent. For those interested, there are a casino, shops and a pool.
We were woken each morning, rather early, with the "Call to Pray" at a local mosque.
