The cleopatra is a small, friendly hotel situated in Sharm el Sheikh. We stayed on an all inclusive basis, which is good value for money, but the selection of alchohol on offer does limit you and wasn't very good. The food is of good quality, varied and in plentiful supply. The rooms are very basic but clean and have fridges & hairdryers.
Entertainment is non exsistent in the evening and in short supply during the day... although Alex the "entertainment " rep tries his best.....his best being volleyball and playing loud music. He is a great guy though ! The staff are friendly and will do anything for you....the manager is unfriendly & aloof and seems unable to recognise that his staff are this hotel's best feature....not once in 14 days did he acknowledge any of his guests.
It his miles from any shops or bars, although taxi's are cheap & plentiful....use the hotel cars wherever possible, they speak good English & are a font of useful information.
Diarrhoea seems to be an unwanted extra, but don't think it's just the Cleopatra....everyone I spoke to ( staying at different hotels ) seemed to have suffered at some point.
Try Narma Bay & Old Sharm for shops & bars and definately pay Shark's Bay a visit for the snorkelling. The trip to Cairo can take up to 8 hours on the bus, but is so worth it, we even had lunch on a boat on the Nile.
The Cleopatra is an average hotel with an above average staff and they would be my only incentive to return. If you don't mind average, then this hotel is for you.....but if you'd prefer better, then look for an alternative.
