I stayed in this hotel for a few nights and had a great stay. The location is central and it is clean. My only grouse though, it's a fair bit of a walk to the nearest MTR and there is no free wi-fi.

Business serviceOk so the Island Pacific is in Sheung Wan and approx 5 minutes by cab, 10 minutes on the trolley to Central. Sheng Wan is much more of a local suburb so you see less tourists, and more locals which is nice. Hotel is failry modern, maybe mid 90's, rooms are decent size and well maintained. Outlook is plesant, either back up to the 'midlevels' or a view of the harbour.
You can easily book this hotel for around $100 a nite, which is good value for HK.

Business serviceWe stayed at this hotel for nine nights whilst we visted Hong Kong. The hotel was booked through British Airways. The hotel offers good quality, clean, air conditioned accommodation at a very good price.
I read the other reviews before visiting the hotel.
The hotel is a short distance from the Central District on Hong Kong Island. It is surrounded by small shops selling dried fish for Chinese medicine and food. The MTR station is a 15 minute walk away, a 5-10 minute tram journey or a 5 minute cab journey. The walk is free the tram costs 2 HK$ and a cab costs 16 HK$. A cab rank is situated outside the front of the hotel.
The hotel has a good atmosphere and appears well looked after. Towels are changed daily if you want that and our bed was changed every two or three days
The hotel perhaps try too hard to disguise the smell in the entrance dried fish from the street is is not that bad and you quickly get use to it. The hotel is situated in an older more authentic part of Hong Kong. It was this that we particularly liked. the bigger hotels around the Central Hong Kong Island and on Kowloon lacked this.
The staff are friendly, helpful and approachable. It is a good idea to get a member of staff to write out the address of the hotel in Cantonese as cab drivers rarely understand English. They do understand `keep the change though!`
The only downside to the hotel is the cost of meals and drinks at the bar. The meals all appear to be buffet style and quite expensive for what they consist of. Dinner costs around 268HK$ We ate out during our visit. There are lots of places to eat, everything from McDonalds to local Chinese cafes and restaurant's offering cheap, hot, nutritious local food. The cost of two medium sized draught lagers at the hotel bar is around 92HK$. This is the standard price in bars and restaurants around Hong Kong.
There is a very wide selection of restaurants varying from the good valued to fine dining experiences at the top end.
A good hotel that I would be happy to recommend and use again ourselves.

Business serviceStayed at the Island Pacific for three nights following a two night stay at the Peninsula whilst in HK for a wedding. After a stay in the Pen, expected to be disappointed but was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. The rooms are on the small side and there is a strange smell in the lobby (mixture of soap and fish). However, the rooms are undergoing an upgrade and ours had a flat screen TV on the wall as well as updated decor in comparison to rooms which had not been updated.
Overall good value for money.

Business serviceAs I write this I am still at the hotel waiting for my trip to the airport. I extended my stay at the IP because well, its clean, its comfortable, its civilized and it was more than I expected. The website is accurate so don't be suspicious.
There were no snotty doormen or staff, everyone was extremely accommodating and they will be honest enough to tell you if you are better off using a booking site to save on rates vs their own.
The IP is located in Central which is ideal, it is near the ferry, and short cab rides away to Lai Kwan Fong, Man Mo Temple and other hot spots. The rooms are adequately sized, not matchbox small and definitely not dingy, the beds are firm but the comforters and pillows are cush. I booked a non smoking room and didn't sniff a whiff of cigs anywhere (unlike other hotels).
I woke up at almost 10 everyday that I was here and lazed around till 1PM, it is that quiet. For the price, you don't get extraneous luxuries, nor do you get just the basics... I would highly recommend this hotel if you have a fair budget ($100 per night).
The one thing is that the movie on demand system is a bit archaic but who goes here to watch movies anyway...
The business center is huge and combines a lounge with several terminals to use the net for a reasonable fee per half hour or the entire day, they also have complimentary coffee, tea, chocolates and magazines should you want to lounge around as I'm doing now.
I didn't try the restaurants but had no intention to anyway doing most of my dining at Lai Kwan Fong...
I'd definitely book here again, and owing to other circumstances in my life, I wouldn't mind staying here a month... Most the staff speak English and if they don't know a word they will look it up in order to assist you...
