“To be avoided”

A run down hotel with poor service and average quality food. When I was there, curtains did not close properly, shower taps were falling apart, and the smell was far from pleasant in the room. I had booked a non smoking room several weeks in advance and booking had been confirmed. On arrival, I was told rooms were available on smoking floors only. I usually have breakfast around 8 am. Despite several request, the room was made up every day well after noon. There is much better in town for similar rates.

“Needs upgrading”

Le Meridien Jakarta

Stayed at Le Meridian two week ago Staff friendly Hotel needs a big upgrade - quite dated Had dinner in the Indonesian retaurant - it was awful - Nasi Goreng usually comes as a physically hot dish (in termperature terms) - however, mine was almost cold - quite unedible & I returned it to the kitchen - offered a replacement, however, declined the offer Also, whle eating our meal, we had the pleasure of having to listen to 4 American guests conducting a conference call on their cell phones - very distracting & annoying - (the hotel does provide rooms where such conference calls can be conducted) - asked the waiter if he could ask the American guests to stop, however, we had no success and left the restaurant - very bad manners from the American guests Hotel is well located for the business district
While the staff were quite attentive, the hotel would only rate as average as it is quite old

“Hotel with Character!”

Le Meridien Jakarta

It was truly a delight staying at the Le Meridien! It is a hotel with a spunky character! I particularly loved the way the hotel's lobby incorporates Indonesian designs. My room (single) is big! Though the interior is quite outdated, I really felt good while in there. The view from my huge window gives me a huge but beautiful view of many buildings in Jakarta! I was surprised to discover that there where no toothbrush and toothpaste provided but upon request they gladly gave it. Air-conditioning was rather challenging but I slept well nevertheless.

Breakfast was divine and was surprised to see pork bacon because Indonesia is an Islamic country. The hotel staff was truly nice and speaks very good English. The hotel's attention to detail even on the famous words from famous people written in napkins, door cards etc is truly creative! Keep it up!

“Will come back to stay here again”

The Le Meridien Hotel Jakarta is located in the heart of business and financial district. The location is just perfect, a bus stop away from the Jakarta Stock Exchange, across from the World Trade Center, at the intersection of the main street Jalan Sudirman and Jalan Casablanca (towards Kuningan Business District and the embassies street).

I have stayed at this hotel several times, and keep coming back to stay there.

It is not a new hotel at all, but it has been maintained very well. For the price it charges (especially their low weekend rate), it is the best value-for-money hotels in central Jakarta.

The deluxe room is smartly sized; not big but enough to have a 2+1 sofa in the room. The bathroom has a good size bathtub and a separate shower stall. The closet however is very tiny and has no shelves. Internet is available in the room, with very good speed, and it costs very cheap (relatively to the other hotels).

The food is excellent, with a choice of Japanese, Thai, French, Indonesian and even Middle East (Lebanese) food, from the respective restaurants and the hotel's kitchen. The breakfast is excellent. The variety may not be as many as Nikko Hotel, or Borobudur, but they are still plenty, and they are carefully selected and prepared. I prefer this to the hotels where too much breakfast leftovers are wasted. For me, breakfast on weekends are important, as I can enjoy them leisurely; and that's why I give breakfast at Le Meridien Jakarta two thumbs up for their choice of simple but well prepared international comfort food: muesli, turkey bacon, miso soup, seedless watermelon, peanut butter & chocolate spread, dried fruits (I love the big figs), sauteed mushrooms, etc.

The gym is EXCELLENT, with its modern equipments, and cold face towels!!! And it's not crowded. The pool is alright; nothing to brag about, but sufficient to do laps or for kids to dip in. The pub (called 30)... well, I went there once, and have never planned to go back.

Service is excellent too. The staff (at the reception, room cleaning, room service and restaurant) are polite and curteous. Security is also good; the guards checked all cars (they also open the hood). The well-known-for-its-safety-and-honesty blue bird and silver bird taxis are also available on stand by.

What can they improve on: the closet space should have shelves; the TV can be a bit bigger and should have more channels (Channel News Asia, NatGeo, Animal Planet, Cartoon Network are currently not available); the bedcover should be changed to younger, more contemporary and color coordinated with the rest of the room.

I am definitely coming back to stay at this hotel.
